Made a trip to the ER last night. . . Looking for advice. . . last night I took my 10 month old,Mocha to the ER bcuz he hadn't been acting himself at all. To make a long story short, xrays and a chemistry blood test were done on him. The xrays were do to the fact that when the vet touched/squeezed his stomach, Mocha whinced a bit. The vet thought that maybe he had and obstruction/blockage. Thank goodness he didnt, however his stomach was FULL of gas, which in my opinion would explain why he wasn't acting himself. My question is, how or what is the best way to get rid of gas? Im not looking forward to the smell that may accompany the situation, but if if gives him some relief, I'm all for it. Next question, the chemistry test came back stating that his kidney levels were slightly elevated. Anyone have any experience with this? The vet is not concerned about kidney failure and thinks its time to switch food that has less protein. I'm new to being a puppy parent and am ding my best to learn and educate myself about the best care I can give my little guy. Thanks in advance for any help, comments or suggestions Tracy and Mocha |
I would give some organic canned pumpkin to help with gas and you can get from whole foods as it is high in fiber as is green beans you can food process those as well either or Was the bun high or the bun and creatinine as bun is due to dehydration What percentage of protein are you feeding now? Too high of protein can lead to stones as well so best to keep protein down in this breed in my opinion |
@dwertenThe bun and creatine were slightly elevated. I was told that stress can cause a change in the creatine levels on chem test. Prior to the test my little guy was attacked by a jack russel terrier, which was very traumatic for the both of us. The dog food bag says not less than 28% for the protein. Is that high, if so whats a good % for this breed? |

So sorry about the attack. 4 years ago I talked to a rescue about a yorkie and she would not take in jack russells as they have killed a few dogs in her rescue and one attacked a yorkie on a group I am on and it was bad but we all raised money for surgery and the yorkie lived so I would be careful of any jack russells after reading this quite a few times on dog groups |
