Help with anti-inflammatory!!! Daisy has been favoring her back hind leg. She will seem fine running playing even walking on her 3 mile walk but after she evercises she acts stiff. When she lays down for a long period of time she acts stiff. If I rub it for her before she gets up she seems better. I am thinking that they will probably prescribe and anti inflammitory and I was wondering which ones are safe? She has an appointment today to have her crystals in her urine checked and I told them about her back leg and they are going to look at that. I just want to be prepared to which medication not to get!! I know Rimadyl is one of the ones.......are there any safe anti-inflammitory drugs? |
I'm sorry, but I can't help you with any suggestions regarding the drugs, but I wanted you to know that I hope everything goes well at the vet today. |
metacam is popular with the small breeds because its a liquid once a day. Rimadyl is safe too. it comes in tablets and chewables. Morgan has taken both with no problems. |
Camden took Metacam after her surgery & did great with it! Wrigley has had it before when she hurt her leg. She threw up, but I'm not sure she had enough in her stomach at the time. I hope everything is ok! |
Http://www.dogsadversereactions.com/...saidspage.html Didn't you say that your baby has crystals and kidney issues? I was wondering if taking NSAIDs would have an adverse effect on her because of that! Plenty of rest seems like what would be best and a 3 mile walk would be hard for the healthiest of yorkies to complete let alone one who is under the weather! I've read that tramadol Is safer to give than NSAIDs but still would be cautious if it were me and my dog! I have heard that cosequin supplements work wonders...how about running that by your vet to see if they would work on your baby too! Hope she gets to feeling better really soon! Keep us posted!! |
Have you considered glucosamine supplements? It worked miracles for my guy with arthritis. I use Cosequin for him. |

She does have a pulled thigh muscle and they gave her tramadol and she is restricted from her walks for 2 weeks. That is going to drive her nuts bc as soon as I get home from the gym in the morning they know that they go and they get so excited!! I really should try cosequin I have read great things about it!! Thanks for the help:) |
