Bee sting help! I feel like an awful mother, Roxy gets to go outside once a day with big brother for about 5 minutes, and somehow within 5 minutes she got stung by a bee in her little paw :cry: I called the vet immdeitely and he said as long as she does not have trouble breathing or rapid heart rate to give her 1.2 ml of bennedrly and monitor her for 24 hours. My question is what if the stinger is still in there she wont even walk on the paw. Should I take her to the vet anyway my vet would rush to the office at any hour of the day for me. Am I just being an overprotective mommy? Any suggestions she has not had an allergic reaction what so ever she whiny. |
I'd take her in if she doesn't start walking on it in the next hour or so, just to be sure. You don't sound like an over-protective mommy at all. You sound like a great one! :) Hope her boo-boo is all better soon. |
take the stinger out...use a credit card, and slide it sideways...I, actually, just used my finger nails and pulled it out immediately...the longer the stinger is in, the more poison goes into the system... |
I just went through this with Penny she got stung on her paw IN THE HOUSE i rushed her to ER vet and paid 90 dollars for them to pop the stinger out  look at her paw VERY close the stingers are TINY keep a close eye on her but if shes moving around shes already doing better. Penny had an allergic reaction pooped all over herself and went limp poor thing as long as your baby isnt doing this then i wouldnt worry give her the benadryl it really helps |
the thing the scares me is She is so fiesty she wont let me even touch her paw. DO you think giving her a bath will make it eaiser to find? |
My boyfriend just got home and looked at her paw I am too squirmy they stinger was still in he got it out now she is just trotting alomg :) |

Oh yeaaaaaah...My apple got stung in the lip, a couple of weeks ago...I got the stinger out w/in 30 seconds...Glad your BF got the stinger out, and sounds like she's going to be o.k...For goodness sakes, don't feel bad...There's nothing you can do about Mother Nature...Just think about the poor pups that have parents that don't even watch them, and don't even know why their babies aren't well...These things happen....The bees are bad, this time of year...Just make a visual scan of the yard, before you cut the babies loose... |
Just got your PM and replied :) Kiss and hug Roxy for me!!! It sounds like you got it ok. Just keep an eye on her for any reactions :) |
Poor little baby, but she will forget all about in soon. Glad you didn't have to take her in. My Azrael came in and acted like she had a horrible itch and couldn't get to it, or a "cling-on", so soon as I started looking thru her hair, I"M the one that got stung on the end of my finger. OUCH! Was still happy it wasn't her. Kiss your baby and make it all better, and maybe a little yummy treat too wouldn't hurt. ;) |
Omg .. speaking of bees. Everyone in TX needs to be aware that there are killer bees in our state. :( Puppy Saves Other Puppies During Killer Bee Attack - News Story - KVIA El Paso I think I need to post this in the news section. |
Brenda just replied :) I am deathly allergic to bees so I know how it feels and would not want anyone (or doggie one) to go through that episode. She is sleeping now I keep waking her up to make sure she is okay and she gets so mad. All seems okay now just waiting it out. Thanks everyone |

At first I thought she hurt her leg so I grabbed her and ran inside then we got in side and I found the bee in her mouth. I think it stung her and she got mad and bit her paw. I dont know what is worse her paw or her mouth :( Glad our little apple is okay though. When our babies get hurt it is so SCARY !! |
my baby Jaxxson, is 9 months old, and while I was outside with him and my maltese, he swallowed a bee.:( and i need some help, i dont know what to do  Jaxxson Drew & Toby Kieth's Mommy (: |
Sounds like Roxy is doing well. Glad to hear. Stings can really be a matter of life or death with some dogs and seconds count! Apis 30C is great for bee stings. Just something to think about and keep on hand for bee stings. It's a holistic product, that's immediately administered after a bee sting (pellets tucked into the pocket between your dogs gums and cheek), 3 times, 5 minutes apart. It really works great and prevents allergic reactions and stops any mouth or throat swelling in seconds! I highly recommend keeping it on hand. Benadryl (plain Benadryl containing deiphenhydramine only - or Children's Benadryl for the tiny ones) works too, but not as well IMO or nearly as good as Apis 30C. |

how is Jaxxson? Did he have an allergic reaction? Hope he is feeling better |
Bee sting 1 Attachment(s) I just did a search of bee sting and found this thread. I think Ally (3lb 2 oz, almost 19 months) got stung last night. She was on a wooden deck, where I've seen several bees, and she started shaking like she was trying to get something off her. I grabbed her up immediately and gave her benadryl and tried to find out what happened. I search her all over, even in her mouth and couldn't find anything. It had to be a bee though. She threw up four times and was uneasy, not knowing where to go/sleep. I gave her some pepto and nutracal and tried to love her. She feel asleep on her pillow (she didn't want to lay by me, which was odd). She feels fine this morning, but smelled a little from throwing up so I gave her a bath. I still couldn't find anything and she is doesn't seem to be tender. Any advice? (P.S. My husband and myself have been working on the bee thing for months. They seem to like my tiki hut/deck.) |
bee sting My lil man got stung by a bee today and I was so worried that it would really affect him but, thank god it did not! I was so nervous and stressed thinking that I was going to loose him. The reason I felt that way is because I have heard of allergic reactions and I did not know really what to look for. I checked his paws and there was a mark there but, did not find any stinger and he is walking and running just fine. So does this mean that he is going to be okay? Is there anything that I need to watch for? |
