It has been a while since she was vaccinated. Around the time she first got her, which was a little less than a year ago. She hasn't had any vaccinations lately. She's been VERY healthy. My mom Chihuahua was not feeling well about a month ago, and she took her in, but the doc didn't find anything abnormal, she was fine a couple days later. My mom is also concerned that this might be contagious. She has a male Yorkie who is five, along with the Chihuahua 1yr, a Bison/Poodle mix 9yr, and a mixed breed older but unsure of age, he was a rescue. I told her no, but she wanted to know if it was contagious to humans too. I guess her, and my sister, who lives there are both getting sick. I think it is just unrelated, probably from stress. If it is what they are saying it is, encephalitis, will she ever be "normal" again? I saw her yesterday, and she is just a different dog. She was so full of life, and was very energetic. Now she just lays there, with a lost look. She acts "out of it" and like she is not really there any more. Out of all the dogs my mom has had, this is the first time she has come across this. I've told her about getting a second opinion, but we are having trouble finding a neurologist vet around our area. I also found out they put her on Vetalog. Thanks to everyone for all the great information. It has been very helpful and useful. FYI- The pic my avatar is Pookie my mom's 5 year old Yorkie. He is such a sweetie. |

maybe your vet can consult with them and fax everything over to get a consultation done before driving over for any testing. |
Thanks, I'm going to get all the information to her. She is going to call her vet tomorrow and see if she can get a referral to them, and have her records sent up there. Hopefully we can get an appointment this week. Thanks so much for your help. |

Please join that group though they are sharp and can narrow things down much faster than i can as they deal with this daily with their dogs. They will know much more than i on this because they have been through all the testing. |
Up date on Pebbles. My mom went into the hospital yesterday. She is having some heart problems. They think it is Coronary Heart Disease. She was having pain and pressure in her chest. She has a pacemaker that she has had for four years now, and that is doing good. They gave her some nitroglycerin and she is feeling a lot better. As for Pebbles, she is gradually getting better. She is starting to walk normal again and even grabbed a toy and was running around the house with it today like she use to. This was such a big relief for my mom. We are still working out how to get Pebbles up to the neurologist. Since she is doing better, it might have to wait until mom is feeling better next week. They are going to do some more tests on mom, she should be home tomorrow. Wanted to let you guys know how things were going with Pebbles. I'm so glad the meds are starting to work for her. |
