I am really considering doing just a apple cider vinegar bath 2x a week like was mentioned with Cody's mom and just forgetting the lyme dips altogether. They said the purpose was to stop the spores from dropping off and since his skin is cleaning up with all the dead material falling off already they may not be necessary....we will see.
I am not going to lie this Chance project is very time consuming..good thing I work at home and I have been sick myself to boot... but it will be worth it in the end when YT supports this little guy to being as you said a "cured and happy little dog."
I sometimes think it takes a village like yt to raise a yorkie LOL

Oh hold up....IF he does have ringworm, vinegar will not cure it!!! You really need to consult with your vet. My Cody had a fungal infection, but it was not ringworm!!!

Actually my sis said apple cider vinegar will work on ringworm because ringworm is a fungal infection. Her son had real bad toe fungus and after trying many remedies he finally listened to her and peed on his feet in the shower and it cleared it up. Something about the acid in the urine.......:thumbup:
Chance update..........
Well we now have two ears that are opened up (not just one) and I can see the canals Whaaa-hoo! I think that the oral anti-fungal medicine is not making him feel to good. He refused to come out of his crate last night and when I reached in to get him he nipped at me.:confused: He nipped at me again this morning when I gave him his medicine, poor baby I just think he is tired of being messed with but he has to have this stuff to get well....

awe well i'm sure it's because he's not used to being handled and now that he's being handled he's got all this stuff happening to him... once you two build up the bond he will stop nipping. you're doing great!!!! :)

I would think so, especially so in the areas where the dry crusty skin has come off.

It never bothered my Cody and he did have open areas on his feet and legs.
You mix it with water 50/50 .

I think she is right but I am not bathing Chance in vinegar or anything else until he is seen at the vet and we discuss the options. His skin looks so smooth and supple not red or blotchy and no open areas. I was told that the vinegar will dry his skin out somewhat and then it would be back to the Crisco treatment.

His ears look so good compared to just a few days ago, I can't stop looking at them........:p

That is a great answer! You are taking him to the vet and that is why we should put trust in our vet. I know that LJ have dealt with a LOT of fosters and rescue pups. She has a foster boy right now named Chance too and he had no hair when he can to YHR and now looks like a totally new pup :D

Are you giving him oral pills or liquid? If you are giving pills a good way to get them to take a pill is to put it inside a little cream cheese. The dairy helps to mask any bitter taste from the pills and they gobble it right up.

You are doing a wonderful job and I'm looking forward to seeing some new pictures! :)

Jodi....Chance had the heartworms and Sunny D had the skin problem! :) That is how Chance got his name....second chance. :)

*smack to forehead* I knew that but of course I am talking crazy again:rolleyes: Either way it is refreshing to see someone willing to listen to their vets opinion. :) They both look great now too. Cody was just a doll. It really is amazing how proper care will do wonders. Oh and of course a good vet too. :thumbup:

Very smart ! home treatment should be done with a vets advice only

I'm glad he's looking better - I still can't believe someone let a dog get this bad off .....it amazes me how people can turn their back to an animal suffering

Chance's anti-fungal medication is in liquid. I have to pry open his mouth and shoot 3cc's of medication. No wonder he is pissed at me! It is hard to fanagel around with these bulky playtex gloves but have got to wear them and somehow I manage.

Also forgot to mention he gets a liquid skin formula with Omega fatty acids in his food to help his skin & coat internally. When this fungus crap is cleared up this will help him grow a beautiful coat. He will be a prince charming....:love:
