panting baby? My Angel has acted weird the last two nights, she acts like she is scared and sits on my neck, she also was panting very bad last night, that is the first time i seen her do that, i have other dogs and they were not hot, so i know it wasnt that? She just turned 2 and weighs 2pds3oz, does anyone have any idea? |
It could be a few things. I would be concerned with hypoglycemia ... you should call your vet right away. Let us know how she's doing. |
Panting is how some deal with stress, nervousness, or scared. Any chance you had a storm at your house last night? Loud noises? Both of those cause Ramsey to pant. |

thank you everyone, she does have problems with low blood sugar, but she always has, and has never panted before, i was trimming my nails last night, maybe she thought i was going to do hers next, and was scared, i dont know, if she does it again tonight i will take her to the vet asap. |

Just thought i'd throw this out there because mine started doing this shortly after she turned 2 as well. Morgan will shake and pant like a freak when she is scared. She also tries to climb up to my neck or climb up on top of the couch (which i don't let her do). Then she'll go and hide under the desk or in the bathroom. She does this every time there is a thunderstorm, loud noise, or what i believe to be a change in the pressure/static electricity in the air. You know when you turn the TV off it makes that static sound? well that bothers her too but she doesn't freak out as much for that since its quick and over with in a second. she never did this the first 2 years of life and then shortly after turning 2 this started up. I spoke with a vet behaviorist and she asked how old she was and when it started. When i told her it started shortly after turning 2 she said that was a very common age for these things to happen. i do not remember why or if she told me why though. |

Some dogs are helped by wearing a shirt, it limits/dulls the effect of the electricity in the air. |

it is so wierd it is only the smoke detector no thunder, lightening none of that stuff just the dang smoke detector. Do you think he has more sensitive ears than the girls? |
my dogs hate the smoke detector. In fact, Rascal goes nuts when I cook bacon, not because he wants some...he wants to go outside because he knows the smoke detector is probably going off. OK, this does say something for my cooking. :) Yes, he pants like crazy, whines and paces |
oh i forgot another sound - we have oreck air purifier for dee dee (yep our house revolves around the dogs) and when a large dust particle goes in it snaps and that freaks dex out too :( |

Marcel will come up by my neck and cuddle/shake whenever he feels scared, vulnerable, or isn't feeling well (ie, tummy is funny or whatever). |
