Kia This has been one long day. Kia just hates us :(. She sure doesn't like taking all these meds and she isn't drinking enough so I'm having to give her water also in a syringe. I think tomorrow we are going to take her back to the vets office and have them IV her for a few hours. I don't know what else to do, this is soo hard. She won't eat ANY dog food, won't eat chicken or bacon either...my vet called and told me that she really wanted me to get her to eat something other than just the meal replacement....oh boy, I don't think that is going to happen....any other suggesstions? (the parm isn't working dangit) |
i am sorry to hear that...i hope she gets to feeling better! |

Poor Kia :(. When they're feeling this yucky, it's so hard to get them to eat. So, her liver is okay right? No protein restrictions there? If liver etc. is okay...go to the toddler section at the grocery store and find those little mini-hotdogs that are in a glass jar. When my Marcel had giardia (twice, as a puppy) and was really struggling w/ appetite - these were the ONLY things I could get him to eat. You could also get some jarred baby food, like rice or something - so she gets some carbs in her. At this point, you really want to just get calories in her body until the surgery. Hang in there, you're doing great and I know you'll get her through this! |
I am sorry that you are going thru this. Can you try mashing up some steam carrots or potato or sweet potato with a little butter? I know that I can usually get mine to eat some of the carrots and potato when they are being picky. I am heading to post office in a few minutes, your collar will be on it's way. :) Give Kia a big hug and kiss. :) |
Things to try: (but no bacon: too fatty can cause pancreatitis) Chicken, turkey, lamb, beef (no ham) stage 2 Baby food, (good to give meds with too) Cesars dog food (guaranteed to entice even the pickiest eaters) (duck, lamb, or gourmet flavors), cottage cheese (no regular type cheeses), hardboiled or scrambled egg, oatmeal, pasta/noodles, low salt chicken broth (to dribble on other food and can add to water) (no gravies) |
ur a brill mom, hope kia gets well soon, hugs and prayers from us all:animal-pa |
