Any Ideas what this could be!? 1 Attachment(s) Hey Everyone- I noticed a little bump on Fiona's front left leg about a week ago. At first, I thought it was a bug bite or a bee sting. She hasn't been licking at it, or messing with it, and when I touch it, she isn't affected by it. I'm not sure what it is, I have some ointment or ears and skin, and have been applying that on it, and it seems to be going down. Please look at the pic and let me know your opinions, thanks so much. |

oh lordy, i'm all nervous right now...it's solid, if it doesn't get better by next week, I'll have to bring her into the vet- money is a little tight right now, since im currently unemployed. :( |

I would suggest you get it looked at by a vet as soon as you can. I had a 4 week old puppy that had something similar and it was a mast cell tumor. He shrunk it with an injection of cortisone then surgically removed it. The problem was it was large enough that to get clean edges and still have enough skin to close the wound was tricky. There isn't a lot of extra skin on their legs and he was really little. That little man (Ozzy) is now 5 years old and never had any other problem. I'll think positive thoughts for your little Fiona that it's not the same thing and something easily taken care of. |
My Sebastian had one of those on his front leg, the vet said it was just a fatty tumor, we removed it since it was in the way of grooming, and sure enough, just a fatty tumor, no big deal...good luck! |

I just logged on because I was trying to get info on the same thing. My dog has one of these on his back leg. I just gave them a full inspection over the last couple of days because I found a couple of ticks on him, so I was shocked to discover this tonight. I am so worried. I am right there with you on the money is tight. This just further solidified the need for pet insurance in my opinion. I pay it for myself no matter what and I need to start doing it for the dogs too. |

I took my pup to the vet yesterday and he said those kind of growths are common in young puppies. Right now he categorized it as a histiocytoma. He did aspirate and take a portion of it for testing. It was $150 for the exam and everything. I am not sure if you live in major area or not, but when I used to live in MI there was vet clinic at the local university that offered all the services of a vet, without the expense. Once I get the results back I will update you on the final word, since the issues seem very similar. |
Until you get in to the vet, I would suggest that you try warm compresses on it. To me it looks like it has a head on it. |
