I try to get upset. But I look at her and feel so bad. The doctor tells me she can still live a very, happy life. Im just praying for it. |
Good read: Hepatic Lipidosis in Toy Breed Dogs This is going to be an interesting one because the shunting may have contributed to (or even caused) the hepatic lipidosis according to the above. The treatment for fatty liver starts with a protein rich diet, but your doggie isn't allowed to have that, so...??? Hmmm. Maybe there is something better than the L/D or LS14 (or maybe not). Maybe you or you vet could email Dr. Center or somebody at UT to double check? Yes, Denosyl for sure. Are you doing any vitamins? Ursodiol? |
Crystal we haven't started anything like that just yet. But I know she will. Im going to give also Acupunture a try next week. Thank goodness I work at a vet clinic (receptionist) |

Although not sure what an Acupunurist can do for Shunts  oh...maybe they help the toxins from the body  |
Good Luck with your little one. I also have another terrier at home - a Westie. Lucy loves him! Lucy has mild MVD but has not required a diet change to date. I try to watch her protein intake though and have her on a fairly low protein kibble. She just threw up her dinner tonight (along with her monthly Sentinel). I'm a little worried but hoping she just ate too fast. Sounds like you are in a good position to take good care of your baby. Keep us posted! |
I am so sorry that you are going through this. She has been blessed to be adopted by you and given all that love. Know that your love has made a difference in her life. My prayers are with you. |
I will pm Debbie (dwerten), she is very knowledgable about this stuff too and she can offer you suggestions on different kinds of diets:D I will also pray for you and your little girl. (hugs) Angie |
I don't know much about LS, but wanted to say I'll say a prayer for your precious baby. I'm so glad Crystal and Nicole came in to lend you knowledge and support. I'm so sorry you're going through this worry, but hopefully, with a proper diet, Lacey can live a long and happy life! Best wishes! |
They do say that Acupt. helps with the toxins in her body. It doesn't change anything for the liver. Went to work this evening and her doctor was there. She was so happy that she was feeling good. She was bouncing all over the place and giving yorkie kisses. Thanks everyone for you advise and prayers. I feel better after talking to all of you. |
Sorry you and your little girl are going through this. I will keep her in my prayers and hoping she continues to do well. Please keep us posted. |
