Kia You guys are the best! I'm sooo glad I found this site. I put parmesan cheese on Kia's food today and YUM! she sat up and ate like crazy! thankyou thankyou thankyou! Kia goes in Monday for another stim and if all is well she will have her teeth out the following thursday. Please pray for her, (and us, as I'm concerned about the surgery), I just want to get all this behind her and let her be the little girl she was meant to be. We adore her so much! I hope one day soon to be able to take in several more little dogs that need us..... |
Oh FABULOSITY! Yay :D! I swear, for many dogs - the Parm trick is just awesome bc it's nice and pungent and tastes so good too. SO glad it worked! Good luck w/ the stim -and- with the surgery. Please keep us posted, I really hope it all goes just perfectly for Kia. |

Stim.... Little Kia has had the day from heck, me too..... Just a few minutes ago I finally got the call we have been waiting for all day. A couple of things went on with her test yesterday. Her Stim came back PERFECT!!! So for now we keep her on the dose of metotane she is on...25mg's per week....then, they also ran a test on her liver and kidneys...not sure what that was really about, other than, a tech marked the wrong box for the test and the first test was for bile, kidneys, etc...then they had to run the stim....whatever, glad the bile thing was ok, do you know what they are talking about on that? I cancelled the full mouth teeth extraction tomorrow. Kia did not eat today at all, she also slept all day, she would RUN from me when I got near her! broke my heart all day. I'm not sure, maybe she got so stressed yesterday when I left her? She did cry hard when I handed her over yesterday, (had to leave her for 2 hours), I'm not sure, I do think emotionally she is not ready for the teeth so we have put it off one week. I baked chicken tonight for supper and FINALLY (after putting parm on it) got her to eat some out of my hand. I think all is forgiven now as she is sitting happily in my lap right now kissing my face. What an emotional little girl I have, no one to love her and now probably not knowing what to do with all the attention....I'm just so glad that her meds are OK for now! I didn't get a chance to ask my vet, how long until the next stim test? Gosh, what a day these little precious children give us, right? |
GREAT news on the Stim, YAY!!!!! So glad you won't have to go up on the Mitotane, this is wonderful. For the "bile test" you're asking about - they likely did a Bile Acid Test to check her liver as so many yorkies have liver shunt (esp. small ones). I think it's smart you canceled her teeth app't. - what a good Mama :). I wouldn't be surprised if she had pretty tough separation anxiety right now, so I bet you're right about the vet Stim app't being tough on her. As for when to Stim next -- you should be good for at least 6 mths, if not more. We watch for any change in symptoms (low or high cortisol) - and if there is, that's when we'd Stim again now that Wylie's med is stable. Hope she is feeling better today and that her appetite is back! |
 Kia is still not eating...and she just walked out of her bedroom and came over and promptly vomited bile by my leg. :( Poor Baby. I put a call in to the vet. No clue what is wrong with her other than she has not eaten and won't eat. This poor little girl, I think I am just going to wrap her in a blankie and hold her forever. What do you think this is? dang.....you know, what in the world is wrong with people, why in the world would you ever give up such a beautiful little girl to begin with and it's soooo hard for me to second guess what is wrong when I have no real background on her. I'm frustrated to the max. |

But, if you suspect the Mito is causing tummy issues, then the vet could give you some prescription anti-nausea medicine and I bet that'd help a lot. Sucralfate perhaps or similar? Sometimes carbs will settle the tummy and stimulate the appetite too, so I'll give some pieces of bread or salty cracker and that can help. I hope she feels better soon! |
Her stim was perfect. The vet thinks it's her neck as she won't bend her head down to drink, thinks it's arthritis in the neck real bad. (probably from the shock collar) I tried bread, no dice. I'm taking her in tomorrow for a shot for the pain, the vet thinks it could be pain as her levels were all so perfect, not to low nor to high. one long night here....oh well. |
