Has Anyone Experieced this with their Yorkie? I have a 2.5 pound yorkie that will be 1 year old in a week and a half. She is a very healthy and strong girl. Tuesday morning she started acting very sick. She was shaking very badly and was trying to throw up. She finally threw up about an hour later but still was shaking and very nausea. We took her straight to the vet that morning and they done blood work on her and all was normal. Her temperture was a bit high but everything else was fine. They did a stool test and it came up fine. Her gums are pink and look great. The vet listened to her heart and it was fine, she felt her tummy and it was fine. So this has me a bit confused? The vet said she just didnt' know what could be wrong with her but thought since she had a fever she may have some type of infection? So she gave us some antibiotics to take home and give to her and some anti nausea medicine to give her. She is eating alright, not the best but she is eating and drinking. But she is still shaking, she is not playing at all, she has just been laying in my lap all day. I am going to take her back to the vet if she doesn't get any better. Has anyone experience this? Do you have any advice for me to ask the vet? She has always been a healthy fiesty little thing and her being sick like this has me worried. Any kind of advice would be much appreicated . |
Had she eaten before the shaking occurred? Has she ever had a Bile Acid Test? |

What is very weird is that my Teddi was 1 week shy of her 1st b-day when I came home to find her shaking and she was wet around her mouth and she didn't seem to know who I was. I rushed her to the vet and then she sent me to the emergency hospital where she had to stay for 3 days until they stabilized her. She ended up having a liver shunt. I would definitely do a bile acid test. I'm happy to say that Teddi is now 3.5 years old and as healthy as could be!! (after surgery to correct the shunt) |

Mabel had the same thing, she's four months. Fur doctor put her on anti biotics also. She seems fine now. Vet thought maybe she had a cold. |
Hopefully the medicine will help her feel better and stop shaking. It may be her tummy is hurting and she is shaking from that. If she isn't better tomorrow I would have her tested to rule out Liver shunt. Hope she feels better soon. |

I had a little one who would act just like this when her anals were full. Also it is not uncommon for dogs to run a fever from stress such as pain. Have they checked her teeth ? |
Sometimes they get sick. No reason...just have an upset tummy. I have had three pups this week with diarrhea and vomiting. I took the first one to the vet and they found nothing except an elevated lipase which often happens for no real reason. You cannot always assume something awful is going on. Metronidazole cleared it. Then number two..and today number three. Guess they are sharing their little virus. :) If she does not improve I would pursue other tests, but for now I would see if her tummy settles. It certainly will not hurt to have BATs drawn .. I would wait until she is feeling better. |
