Thank you very much everyone for your advice !
I just got home from the vet.. She checked Gucci over and over and she couldn't find anything wrong with him. She didn't want to take any blood from him because she'd have to sedate him (he was wiggling way too much). She said that usually at around 6 months puppies start eating less, so that might be what's going on with Gucci, he's 5 months old.

It could also be that he's being picky with his food.. since I switched it over. So for the next few days.. I have to syringe feed him canned food that the vet gave me. It's called "Hill's Prescription Diet" Hopefully he'll be back to his old self soon !

You might want to have them do a bile acid test just to rule out a liver shunt.

Sedate him to draw blood? I have never had to have that done and I have had all types of pups! Oh...I take that back...a fear biter is one. They can take it from his neck if he is wiggly. No reason why they cannot hold him still for that! I would not be comfortable with a vet not doing lab work on my puppy! Has he ever had any labs drawn? Blood work is something that I always expect to be done when I have a sick pup...it is the very best for starters as a diagnostic tool.

If he is that afraid of the vacuum you might try rescue remedy. It can really help them get through stressful times. He will probably get better about it over time.

I asked her if she was going to do any blood tests to see if there was anything wrong but she said no because he wasn't showing any symptoms of anything. Truthfully the only lab work she's ever done was a stool sample once when I found blood in his poop. But even then they were reluctant to do it. I didn't think anything of this vet trip because I thought it was normal to sedate a puppy if he were moving too much for a needle.

Rescue Remedy is an all natural drop made of flower essence. It really can be very helpful at stressful times, thunder, travel, changes in routine. You can buy it at amazon and some pet supply places, we use the one for animals and I also use the one for human for myself and my children. Theres even a formula to help with sleep, works for me.

I couldn't agree more! :thumbup::thumbup:

Drawing blood is essential when you have a sick dog. It can tell your vet quite a bit about what is going on. If your vet or the vet techs are unable to draw blood without sedation, I would not be comfortable with that vet.

The very first thing I do when I have a new pup in my home is to take it to a vet and get a baseline blood panel drawn.

I don't like to say things about people's vets; but, honestly if my vet was afraid to draw blood, I would not be going there.

I am sure that if the vet I worked for told me to hold a pup so he could draw blood and I said I can't get him to hold still he would have said , well theres the door if you can't do your job. :confused: And you don't really want to sedate something that tiny to draw blood, it's actually harder to get the blood.

I messaged you as well but I experienced the same exact thing!!!

I noticed your post about changing Gucci's food from the weaning and so on. I did the same thing with Bella and she hasn't taken to the new food well at all.. I literally have been putting 5-10 kibbles in her food and it makes her sick, lathargic, and she has thrown up. I don't know if it is something in that specific Royal Canine that doesn't do well with their little tummies. Bella is just under 2 lbs and sick from that specific food only when she eats it. So for now I am going back to the weaning and trying other pet foods out. I wouldn't worry though I really think it is something in that next stage of the Royal Canine. I would try Acana, thats what everyone has suggested to me, so I am hoping that that will work but I am just ordering it now. Have a great day I hope this helps ask me any more questions because you and I did the same exact thing with our little ones with the Royal Canine food :)

Hi guys, I just went through the process of moving which is why I haven't replied to any of the post. Thank you everyone for your advice !! Gucci is doing good now.. he doesn't eat as much as he did before ( 3 or 4 times a day ) He eats twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I have started taking him to a different vet. I didn't feel comfortable with the one I was going to. Just wanted to update you guys. Thank you once again :)
