Yorkie swallowed a sock!! Please help! My yorkie stole my daughters sock n when k try to get it back from him he swallowed it what should I do???? I been up watching him making sure he won't stop breathing! Should I go to the ER for him?? I'm gonna wait until he poops r throw up to see if I see the sock! Please help!!! Thanks!!!! |
If it were me, I would call an emergency vet and ask their opinion. I wouldn't be overly paranoid because there's nothing toxic or jagged in a sock. Chances are, they will suggest you see if she poops it out. Sorry, that's all I got. |
I agree with the above, I would be calling a vet. Nothing toxic or jagged but I would worry about obstruction with a sock trying to pass. If this were a Labrador I wouldn't worry, but yorkies are small and trying to pass a sock could be impossible. |
I agree to call the vet! I'm not sure what size Yorkie you have, but they can have a hard time passing small things. When Wrigley was a puppy she had a blockage and it consisted of fuzz & fringe off of toys, so it doesn't take much! Please update us and let us know how he's doing! |
A whole sock ? Yikes ! Are you sure ? Have you called the vet ? how is he ? |
Update please? |
Call the vet Don't take any chances and call the vet or got to the ER. That will be a blockage for him/her. Not to wait around with. Good Luck will be thinking of you and your fur baby. |
How big was the sock? it might not pass the small intestine, call a vet |
He definitely needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. It doesn't take much to block a tiny Yorkie's intestine. |
Holy Moly ~ A whole sock.... PLEASE go to the VET asap!!! He most certainly is going to have a blockage and will need surgery immediately.... Please update us :( |
How big of a sock could a yorkie swallow? Was it a baby sock? Are you SURE he actually swallowed it and just didn't run off and hide it? I would think in the very least an Xray is needed ASAP! |
Before I had a yorkie, I had a collie. She would play and steal socks all the time. We started noticing that some were missing and figured out later that she had ate some. We would watch her and she would throw them up later. BUT yorkies are much smaller so I agree with everyone else to call the vet just to make sure. |
Thanks all but I made him throw it up I gave him half of teaspoon of salt n with in 5 mins he threw it up it was a baby sock but he is fine now Thanks everyone for helping me! |
What's done is done in this case, but I do want to say to everybody reading this thread looking for a similar answer, it is never okay to induce vomiting without veterinary permission for certain things. Objects like this would be on of them. |
