HELP Please! Sassy ate LOTS of peanuts!!!!! I don't know if this is an emergency or not but sassy ate a LOT of peanuts (in the shell, unsalted) Will she be okay??? |
i would call your vet and ask if he/she wants you to bring her in!! |
How many is a lot? I don't believe they are dangerous to dogs in moderation since many dog treats have peanut butter in them but call your vet just to be safe. |

Peanuts can be harmful if your dog is allergic to them, much like humans. In most dogs, it shouldn't be a concern. I have birds and my dogs are constantly stealing peanut shells and eating them. We also give them an occasional peanut with no ill effects. |

OK....as to the peanuts...I would call my vet to be on the safe side, but I doubt it will be a problem. |

I can imagine a sunflower seed could do it. They're pointed at the end. We give Floyd, our M2, almonds, brazil nuts and walnuts in season. I constantly police his cage area when feeding those because of sharp shell pieces. The only nuts (not shells) that I've heard of being harmful to dogs are walnuts and macadamia nuts. I think macadamia nuts are the most toxic. Of course, being allergic to anything would make it dangerous. |
Molly ate a handful of dry roasted peanuts earlier this year, and was fine, but it will depend if your pup has a nut allergy. As someone has already said, i would phone the vet for advice. Really hope all will be ok. |

I have a net around the cage that catches seeds. |
OK...just got off the phone with ER vet and they said she should be ok...maybe get upset tummy and/or Poopoos since she doesnt have a nut allergy. TY all sooo much for helping! i was panicking bigtime!!!:D |
Excellent...glad you called them! :) |
Just sat down at my 'puter and your thread was one of the first that I read. I am so glad that you contacted your vet and everything seems ok. Now we can ALL rest better. It is amazing how much we worry about our little Inet fur friends. I would imagine that she will have some odd poops for the next few days. |
