Acting weird after neuter Jasper got neutered today and he was fine for the first few hours but now he's whining constantly and won't lay down. He's had his pain meds on schedule and he's eating a little, but he just won't stop whining. I can't sleep and it's 3:00 am he just won't go to sleep. Anyone on right now? |
The only thing I remember from Levi's neuter(4 years ago) is he was very uncomfortable between pain meds. There seems to be a window where the meds need time to kick in. I remember calling and asking my vet about this.If he is still uncomfortable take him back to the vet to check him. Sorry you had a tough night with him. Rose and Levi |
Just read this post. How's Jasper doing? Could be a reaction. Did you call the vet? Please update. |

sorry your little is not feeling well. Maybe his meds/dosage isn't strong enough. How is he feeling today? I would call the vet if he is still uncomfortable. Please let know how he is doing. :) |
Magnus got neutered about 3 weeks ago. The only time he whined was when he wanted to lick the area but couldn't reach. I remember the vet saying he'll be bit uncomfortable but shouldn't be in any pain. It's really hard to watch them like that since you don't know what's causing it or how to treat it... I hope he feels better and you get some sleep! |
You're probably in bed by now, but just to let you know, I've read meds can actually make them hyper. They made my boy crazy. He is a calm quiet thing, but for a few days after his neuter he was just crazy and out of control. He whined, cried, yelped, howled and barked for a few days. I didn't sleep and neither did he. He was just so uncomfortable. Wait it out, it won't be like that forever and he'll be your sweet baby again in a few days. |
Thanks for all the feedback! I called the vet a couple times and they weren't really sure what was wrong. Well, I waited for awhile before I gave him the pain meds, and he went back to normal! So yes, just like you ^ said that's what was making him crazy. |
