Rily has luxating patellar
 
Rily has been a little lethargic the last couple of days, so I took him to see the vet this morning. He was diagnosed with luxating patellar. My vet put him on phycox and a diet. It appears Rily needs to lose a little weight. :rolleyes: He weighed 9.08 and the vet said he shouldn't weigh more than 8 pounds. My vet doesn't think Rily will need surgery at this point. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Fancy, my 14 year old schnauzer is also very sick. :(

Sorry to hear about your babies . Rily being lethargic has something to sdo with having LP, or is it something else?

It is the LP. Lethargic may not be the best word...what I meant was that he was not his usual "never still a minute" self. He would just sit and stare at me, like "Mom, something's not right." He would run a little bit, then sit down and lick his leg. My vet gave him a good checkup.:)

Poor baby, if only they could talk...but even if they can't, they know how to make us understand.

Sending well wishes to Mr Rily and Ms Fancy. What a: ( Birthday present for Rily I hope the little fellow starts feeling better. Jada has LP too. Bless his heart I hope they both feel better soon.

I hope Rily loses some weight and becomes active again. I'm sorry Fancy isn't feeling well, either. Sending special prayers for both of your babies.

Sorry to hear about Rily!

But dogs with LP can still be very active... Im sure with a little weight loss and a good supplement... Rily will be running and playing again in no time!

sending prayers for both of your babies. :) Hot Rod had surgery for lp and now the vet has him on Dasuquin. Maggie was just diagnose with low grade 2 lp and has been put on the Dasuquin as well. Hope your babies feel better soon. :)

Awe...I hope they both feel better soon. I know how you feel. We never like seeing our furries in pain or not feeling right. My little Sydney just had surgery on both knees for LP. The bandages come off Monday.

You mean luxating patella? What grade is it? I don't know how old your Rily is but if he is still a puppy it can improve, or go away. Hopefully losing some weight will help. I have never heard of it making a dog lethargic however, or even "lazy", unless they are in pain. Could something else be going on too?

I sure hope he feels better soon though..

Well, as I corrected myself earlier, lethargic wasn't the best word to use. What I meant was he isn't as active as he usually is. He isn't "lazy" either, but his leg is painful. I have a wonderful vet, and he feels with losing some weight and taking the phycox, Rily will get better. It isn't real bad and Rily is young and very active, so I'm hopeful he will be okay soon.
