My Yorkie seems unable to get comfortable and keeps putting his rear end in the air! I have a 6 year old, 6 pound, male yorkie named Peanut. He has been fine and all of a sudden this morning I woke up to him constantly moving around and unable to get comfortable. Also, he wants to put his butt up in the air sometimes like its bothering him. I took him in to get his anal glands expressed, but he is still acting the same way. He wants to eat grass too, so I am asuming his tummy is upset...anyone have any answers or been through the same thing??? Please help!!! |
that is a sign of pancreatitis :( Is your dog vomitting? they put butt in air as their stomach is upset and eating grass they are trying to throw up what is in their stomach. I would take him in as he is in pain and why he cannot get comfortable :( |
he hasnt vomitted at all, but I have never seem him act this way before...its really scary. Unfortunately its Easter and there is no regular vets open today, and I cannot afford to pay the prices of a emergency vet. I have to wait till tommorrow and its eating me alive...:( |
You could check his anal glands again, sometimes if they're the problem they will fill up again quickly. Sometimes my dog's need expressing 2-3 days in a row till they revert to normal again. |
And if it's not his anal glands, I'd be getting him to a vet ASAP. |
well, it seems that he hasnt eaten or drank water all day so far either and now he is lying there trembling....:( |
Thanks you guys for your help...I appreciate your kindness, I will be taking him to the vet first thing in the morning... |
What color are his gums? |
His gums are probably light pink > white, and feel sticky. Trembling means he's in pain. If his stomach is hard and distended, he may be blocked. Gas will continue to develop until his intestines rupture, which is so painful he may die of a heart attack. There is a very good chance he will not last until tomorrow. Beg, borrow or steal and get that baby to a vet now, if you plan on keeping him. If this is not feasible, contact a Yorkie Rescue group... they will get him immediate care. |
Sending Prayers that he is ok. I agree that if he is trembling and he isn't eating or drinking you CAN"T wait till tomorrow. |
Please get him to the ER vet asap! This cannot wait until tomorrow! |

It could be nothing at all or it could be extremely serious. Just isn't worth the risk to wait. You can check gum color, CRT, pulse, respiration, etc., but even if they are all within normal limits it stiill may not be okay to wait. |
just checking to see if you got him in - trembling is a sign of pain this does not sound like anal glands to me this sounds like something intestinal - hope he is ok |
Did you get him to the vet? I hope he's ok. |
Have you taken him to the vet? Is he ok? |
