kiko ate fishing line.. Today my sister's boyfriend, who is a hunting enthusiast and is staying at our house for a couple of days, just said to me HE FORGOT TO TELL ME THAT KIKO (6 MONTHS OLD) ATE ONE OF HIS FISHING LINES not today but Saturday :o. I can't sleep now! Kiko just came from vet & is recovering from 4 days of diarrhea.. Too late to induce vomiting. Have no idea of the line length. Has anyone had a similar story? He seems normal now. I'm hopping the fishing line would disintegrate, will it? |
Most fishing line these days are made of monofiliment, a synthetic. It will not dissolve. If he were mine, I'd be at the vet's at first light. You need to find out where that line is and ensure it's not going to tangle his insides up in a knot, too. Has he been pooping normally? How much did he eat? No hook, I hope? |
You need to take this baby to the vet, ASAP. Any time a foreign object is swallowed, your dog could have severe intestinal blockage if the item is not passed. My aunt's shih tzu ate a shoe string and it became wrapped around his intestines. He had to have surgery to have it removed. Please keep us updated! |
I hope your baby will be okay, how scary! What did the vet say? |
I think it is pretty unlikely that the line will disintegrate, so you probably have to just hope the dog will pass it through.....that is, after you take him to the vet! Despite my herculean efforts, Daisy still manages to get ahold of paper occasionally (she goes bats for any kind!) and she will poop this out relatively undigested. I'm just saying that this doesn't have to be a disaster....but do have the vet check things out to be sure. Best wishes........ |
