please help me I just picked up a piece of pennys poop and pulled out a huge worm im so scared i donno what to do shes been on dewormer from the vet as a preventitive and now she has it i thought it was to PREVENT them ...is she gonna be ok im gonna explode im so scared |
hmm that is scary but i believe dewormer is to help rid of the worms inside if they have it. that is from my understanding. So the dewormer is doing it's job. I could be wrong. |
the doctor never said hey she has worms lets treat her she just said puppies are supposed to have worm treatment so here u go i gave her the last dose this morning ..im so scared and shes freaked out cause i am |
When was she giving the dewormer? |
SHe must have had worms. That is normal for her to poop them out after her dewormer. |
she had her first dose on the 9th her 2nd today it was dead skinny and long looks EXACTLY like cooked spaghetti |
She should be fine. I know it is scarry and nasty but it is normal. Relax so she can relax with you:) |
well i think most puppies have worms for the most part...and dewormer is to release these worms...from my understanding....i know it may be scary i had witness a pitbull puppy after had their dewormer poop out a worm...and it was scary but was fine afterwards |
they should all come out dead right...its so gross im not girlie about worms or anything but there crawling around in her ....what if one gets stuck half way out should i let it hang there isnt it dangerous to pull them out (gag) this is so nasty i can watch autopsy's but i cant pull a dead worm outta my babies poop :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown |
no they are alive...well the one i seen was alive. |
this one was dead if theres a live one in her poop im gonna puke |
i saved it the vets gonna get a present |
It will not hurt her to pull one out if it gets stuck. Yuck, but she will be ok. You might not notice anymore but then again you might for a day or 2. Make sure that you keep her and her poo area clean so she don't get reinfested. |
My vet told me to expect to find worms in the poop after I wormed my litter. Everything should be ok. |
Any puppy that we had that had worms, they always pooped them out after being dewormed, its how they get rid of them. Ive seen them live and dead. Your dog will be fine. |
I'm sorry Pennies Mom but I just had to laugh at your post when I had my first ever dog an Austrailian Sheppard (Rocky) he pooped out I swear it was a gazillion live worms and some of them were dangling out of his but, would have loved to see your face then lol. Don't worry if she's on a dewormer she'll be fine. Sorry for laughing xo |

ROFL!!!!! Are you going to wrap it and put a bow on top? I'm glad I read this post. Now I won't freak out if I see worms in Magnus's poop. But I'll definitely be grossed out. -_- At least you know the dewormer is working! |
Worms and humans Just in case you need to know...... While most worms that dogs and cats get, cannot reproduce in humans, they can still get in and they can parasitise and grow and cause many various problems inside of us! So make sure that everything the poop has touched is cleaned really really well with hot water and a really good sanitizing cleanser if possible! And scrub especially under those fingernails and no puppy kisses till you know the worms are gone!!!!!! |

I can see you scrubbing your fingernails now.LOL I would be too! In fact I would be disinfecting everything in site! |
ive calmed down a bit since then its just not something you wanna do at 1230 at night come home from work hi baby ut oh you poopie in your bed "IN HER BED!! ick " pick up the poop and there's a giant worm hanging outta it i have a strong stomach but ICK ...i pulled her poop apart this morning and found on little tiny hair sized one so ide have never know if this one hadnt decided to stick its neck out...literally thanx everyone and gizmos mom i probably woukld have puked glad you got a kick outta it:) |
Hope she is doing ok.:) You too.:) This must have been the worms she had: There are two types of Roundworms and they are the most common Worm infestation in dogs – and puppies in particular. The symptoms of Roundworms include: pot-belly appearance, diarrhea, vomiting, dull coat and weight loss. You may even see this type of Worm in your dogs vomit or feces. They look like pieces of spaghetti up to 6 inches long or longer. All puppies should be regularly wormed from two weeks of age (and all adult dogs wormed every year) to guard against roundworms. Puppies should continue to be dewormed every 3 weeks for the best results. This type of Worm is usually treated with oral medication, with follow-up fecal screenings. This is one of the types of Worms that can be transferred to humans, but good hygiene will usually eliminate this threat. If you have a puppy, make sure to pick up his feces and make sure you encourage your children to wash their hands after playing with the new puppy. Routine deworming of the new puppy and good hygiene are the best for preventing any problems with you and your family. |
seems the dewormer worked. No kisses yet! |
OMG OMG! PUUUUUKE! I had to laugh reading this but how GROSS! I would have totally freaked out too if I saw a worm in my dog's poo. I probably would have fainted or called the fire department. I'm a little wimp I guess. :) I'm freaked out know that after reading this I'm going to be hit with a worm surprise with Shylo. For the love of God I hope not! She is going through her de-wormings and nothing so far. :) |
lol... i think i would rather see a dead worm in doggy doo then an autopsy, but thats just me! |
What was the medicine you gave her called, I think you will get a lot more constructive criticism if people know the wormer being used as to know what worm you are dealing with. My Elvis came to me and I get FULL testing done for my dogs, anywho he came to me with whip worms, I too was panicked, he had a three day meds reg. and now he's on a heart-worm medicine that prevents the other worms in my area as well. I give him Iverheart, whip worms are not in my region. It is import to know the parasite issues in your specific region and the surrounding regions...incase you get a visiting dog, treating for every possible parasite is a bit extreme, anyways all my dogs are on Iverheart and frontline plus to prevent parasites, I gave all my all my dogs Panacor for worming. THE MOST IMPORT THING WITH WORMS IS CLEANING UP POOP!!!! Sounds awful but try not to let your dog poop on grass or soil, cement or tile is easier to disinfect, if it is whip worms once they are in the soil they are a real stinker to get out I'm told, you may also consult a local nursery to find out about soil cleansing for parasites in their gestational periods, personally we use a pest control service who sprays the yard once a month with a solution safe for dogs and children, it is designed strictly for insects livers to be unable to process, if you want I will enquirer about the name of it for you. If the worms are small and hanging on the bottom like little pieces of rice, they're tape worms if they are larger and coming out the dewormer is working on large tape worms or another kind, whip worms I was told a microscopic and personally I saw no worms in Elvis' pooh...but call the vet to be safe, and make sure you feel not only full informed when you get off the phone or leave the office but that you can educate others, and clean up all poop the minute it s the ground, then disinfect the area. Was the wormer a 3 day treatment or a once a month treatment? Hope I was helpful. |

the dewormer name is pyrantel pamoate ...donno what thats for |
Pyrantel pamoate hook worms or round worms as it is the treatment for them specifically...if it is a mixture of pyrantel pamoate and another wormer or dewormer I should say the it could be for tape or whip worms but if that is the only ingredient then it is for hook or round. Google search them in dogs and see what you can find about how to clean the infected area and see what else you can use to kill them in larva stage and so forth. Bleach works best on cement and other flat surfaces |
