Peeing in her sleep When Taylor was younger she used to pee in her sleep all the time. After many test and it was just a puppy thing. I had her spayed a couple months ago and now she is peeing in her sleep all the time. We have a vet. appt at 3:30. Has anyone else had this happen. I am hoping this isn't going to turn into something big, or expensive. I wish money didn't have to come into play, but it seems that I never leave his office for less than $150.00. Thanks Tami <>< |
Probably a hormonal issue. Stilbesterol, a replacement hormone should do the trick and it is Vet prescribed so you would have to take her to a vet. Stilbesterol is not that expensive. |
I had the same issue with one of my girls after a spay.....It's been a long while, however the vet did prescribe a med and administered for about 10 days. That's all it took. |
Daisy had this issue a couple of years after her spay. My vet put her on Proin and it tightened up her bladder muscles right away. This was a long time ago, I'm not sure if Proin is still used, but it worked great for her and quickly. She managed to never need hormone replacement therapy or anything else after that. |

Thank you to all who replied. My vet said it might be a uti and a week bladder muscle. She's on 2 meds. Batriol (antibotic), and Proin. He siad she will most likely have to be on the Proin for life :(. She's only 16 months old. I am praying after her antibotics and the bottle of Proin she won't need it any more. But we will do what we have to..... He also said that this is NOT common in little dogs. But very common in larger breeds. Thank you again ! Tami <>< |
I wondered if she had a UTI. I hope she gets better soon. I'm also optimistic that she won't need to continue taking the proin. |

Wishing I had never spayed my little girl My little girl had the same problem with peeing in her sleep at four years old. Her vet said it was because of weak muscle from being spayed. Big mistake, I wish that I had never spayed her now if I knew what problems that cause. She has been on Phenylpropanol for almost a year now. This drug I believe drives her crazy. Per the vet she is suppose to get a 1/4 a tablet, ever other day. It makes her VERY restless, pacing the floor, wanting to be held (not at all like her). It's like she is on withdrawal from the drug when she is acting like this. Has anybody else had this problem. Right now I'm waiting for the vet to call me and wondering if there is anything else for her to take. No wonder they took this drug off the market for Human use. |

I didn't read the whole thread...sorry. I see you were prescribed Proin. Darcy is 9 lbs and takes the equiv of 1/2 tablet per day...I am just curious how much your baby was prescribed. |
The vet prescribed Sydney to take 1/4 a tablet once a day for the first week and then 1/4 a tablet every other day. She is also 9 lbs. This seem to solve the problem with her peeing in the bed but it also causes her to act weird. Do you notice any difference in Darcy? Sydney has been taking this for about a year now and she will be 5 years old November 29. The vet did say that she was young to be having this problem. The first time that she peed in the bed was on my pillow and on my head. That's when I knew that something was definitely wrong with her. She didn't even know that she had done it. I called my pharmacist and he said that the reason that this drug as taken off the market for human use was because people were using it to make METH. |
I can't say if it made her act different or not, because Darcy is a rescue, and I took her to the vet within 24 hrs of my husband finding her, for excessive panting/peeing on herself. She has congestive heart failure & he chalked the peeing up to old age. He put her on Lasik and Proin right off the bat, and she has been with us since Spring of 2008. That dose should work for her fine, since that is what I give Darcy, like I said, we had to experiment, he was doubtful it would work and I was thinking I was going to have to keep her in diapers. I remember the receptionist at the vet saying once that she had to log who she sold the Proin to, and she told me people used to take it lose weight?? :confused: |
Just took Sydney to the vet. He's doing blood work on her right now. He thinks it Liver Shunt. Please pray for my little baby. |
