Help! Bad reaction to vaccines. I have the stupid plan at Banfield (which i am definitely NOT renewing for next year)...i took my year old 6lb pup there on monday for some vaccines. I am a new dog owner so I had no idea about the aftermath of these shots...or that i shouldn't have even gotten her the lepto shot. Well they gave her 3 shots all at once (lepto, rabies, lyme & distemper parvo) and just sent me on my way without any warning at all. She has not been herself since. She had diarrhea the next day and did not move off her bed. I called on tuesday and they said if she still had diarrhea the next day to bring her in. Well the diarrhea has stopped but she is still BARELY walking around and cannot even walk up a step. I dont know what to do because I really am reluctant to bring her back to the stupid place because they seem to not care at all. Should I give her a few more days to get back to normal or should I take her to another vet tomorrow? Im super worried because she is normally such an energetic dog and I feel so bad that I was so ignorant and didnt know that I was going to put her through this horrible ordeal. |
She needs to see another vet. Its been too long. Are her gums pink? |
Rabies should never be given along with the core vaccines and lepto isn't a core vaccine. Yorkies and other toy breeds can have terrible reactions to lepto. How long ago did she get the vaccines? If she were mine, I would take her to another vet tomorrow. I would not wait. Rip Off Reports is full of complaints about Banfield: Ripoff Report Search Results: banfield |

Do you have any children's benadryl in the house? |
I just feel like a horrible person....i have no close friends with dogs and had no idea that this could happen. I obviously should have researched what shots were actually necessary...but I cant go back and change that now. I will never forgive myself if something is permanently wrong with her. |

If she really can't walk up a step after four days, she does need to be treated and the sooner, the better. It's hard to say whether she is just very lethargy and/or sore or if the vaccines (lymes maybe) caused a disease state (pretty sure it can cause lymes itself), etc. |

I just didn't know to research things at the time. IMO, live and learn. Can't change what happened. You can only help her now. :) |
How much childrens benadryl should i give her? If she doesnt get worse im going to go to a good vet tomorrow for sure. She is eating and drinking (which relieves me a bit) but just wont play or run around or jump on/off anything....all she is doing is laying around still. |
I would recommend Benadryl and then I would definitely suggest taking your baby to the vet. Good luck - I hope she is feeling better very soon. |

Please don't kick yourself......she needs you. We've all done some things and hsbr had decisions be made for us because of being uneducated. Get your lil girl better and google Dr Dodd's vaccination protocol. Be an active paticipant in your girl's health care. Question/challange your vet if you need to or feel things don't sound right. |
Just seeing this now. I do hope all is ok. |
How are things going now? |
