Knox is constipated. He's 14 weeks old. Every time I take him to the vet, she gives me Science Diet dog food, so that's what I've been feeding him. However, his poop is terribly dry and recently he has been whining and crying every time he goes. It got so bad earlier this week, I had to soak him in water and put some vaseline on him. When he finally passed it, it was as big around as a quarter. His butt prolapsed, and the vet gave me some ointment to put on it, similar to Preparation H. She gave me some doggie yogurt to give him, but he really doesn't like it, to try to regulate him and some medicine to give him. I think it's more of a dietary issue. Please help. I hate to see him in pain. |
I've heard some very good things about adding canned pumpkin to their diets, just a tablespoon can help with diarrhea or constipation. I think I would try that first, and see if it helps. Remember its canned pumpkin, not the pie filling which has other ingredients. Hello and welcome to YT! Sorry to hear about your little guy. You can try giving him a little canned pumpkin. Pure Pumpkin and not pie filling. If he won't take it on his own you may have to put some in a larger syringe and have him take it that way. Mine are not fans of it. Good luck but it sounds like you have it under control by going to your vet. Quote:
