Spayed 10 year old yorkie My yorkie is ten years old and after breading her twice and a lot of debating i finally decided to have her spayed. She seems to be doing fine, not sore at all and her normal self, however she does have knots around several of her nipples. She is swollen around them just lump feeling. I am wondering if this is normal or anyone else has experienced this or if I should get her back to the vet. If anyone could give me some feedback it would be greatly appreciated. The surgery was a week ago today. THANK YOU!! |
Call your vet tell them her symptoms. They will probably want to see her. If it were my dog I would take her in . Hope she is ok. |
lumps& bumps. hi sorry to hear about your problem with your little furrbie, i would take her to your vet too. it probably nothing & could just be a side affect. at the very least contact the vet by phone, my vet is really good, they may just adice you over the phone as we all know vet bills can be really high ( although i know we yorkie owners would sell our homes if we had too ! )let me know how you get on. best of luck. luv pauline & girls xx:) |
Hello ~ I experienced the same thing back in August when I had my girl spayed. However, when I took her to the vet to get the stitches removed, I asked him about the lumping and he told me that it just a little scar tissue and nothing to worry about. He also said that in time, it would go down and they have. Today, you can barely feel them. If she's acting fine, I wouldn't worry about it, but always better than safe than sorry. Do what your instinct tells you. |
Good advice.....a vet needs to check this out, but it sounds like something that can wait until you take her in for her suture removal from the spay. Just keep an eye on them in the meantime. |
She is probably going back to the vets this week for her post Op recheck right? If not she should and you MUST tell them and have them examine it. Your description is vague, just because it is a description, a vet can check to make sure it is nothing more serious going on. It can turn out to be nothing, or a bunch of serious things i do not want to even say because you freaking out will not help either of you . So please make plans for a re-check, and blessings! It will be just a little nothing ! XOXO |
Thank you guys soo much...She actually received self absorbing stitches so she dosent go back for re check. I have contacted them and they seem to believe its nothing to worry about, that it should go away. She is eating and drinking fine and seems to be in no pain so i guess I will just observe her and wait a couple more days, its just hard loving her so much not know whats going on inside that little belly!! Again Thank everyone a bunch I am new to this and you guys are awesome cant wait to explore the site more! |
breading??? You cant even spell breeding and you're breeding:confused: |

On my understanding any vet who cares about his clientele must be good about this. It is just a reassuring visit. I know it is your choice, but if we start getting too relaxed about any service in no time we will be paying and doing the professionals jobs our selves! I am sort of a pain but i think since you already called they should be willing to have at least the vet tech see your girl! Good Luck anyways ! I hope you do not take me bad... i just dont like when we pay for full service and they try to make us accept soo sooo from them :) xoxo |
Thanks Harley Def. a typo!! Yes I would expect the vet to do a recheck for no cost but unfortunately the cost is 50 dollars! Actually today the swelling has gone down some. Thanks again for your support and concern. |

Even if you are not going for a recheck, if she has lumps like you described, I would pay the $50 to have them checked out by a vet. :) |
