Cause of vomiting and diarrhea? My dog vomits often...so it's not unusual that she threw up tonight. However, she threw up not long after she had several bouts of diarrhea (which she has never had since she's been here). We couldn't figure out what could have set this off so suddenly, until my boyfriend mentioned the chicken pieces I gave her last night at dinner. Is it possible that this chicken caused her tummy problems almost 24 hours later? I don't usually give table food to Roxie, but I thought the chicken would be harmless. It was one of those oven-stuffer roasters from the hot foods section at the grocery store. Should I not give her dinner tonight if her tummy is acting up? Any suggestions/advice appreciated! |

i learned about all that after my maltese had a seizure from that chicken as it had rosemary on it as i had no idea they inject the chickens with seasonings, butter, etc :( |
I'm also thinking pancreatitis due to the very high fat volume in those chickens. Regular vomiting is not normal. I would definitely recommend a vet visit and a chem 27 panel to begin..... |
I hope your baby gets to feeling better. Maybe her tummy is upset from the chicken. Yorkies don't do well with foods that have so much seasoning and fat content. When Zander had vomiting and diarr. a yter mentioned to give him some mashed sweet potato, a little bit of pedia-lite mixed in, white fish and a tspn of pureed greenbeans, he loved it and it stopped the diarrh. Not saying it will work for everyone but it's better than the furbaby going without food. Good luck, if the vomiting and diarr continue take him to the vet immediately, they get dehydrated too quickly.:animal-pa |
She's doing better. She didn't throw up or have diarrhea again last night. I will try giving her breakfast this morning and see how she does. If she doesn't handle breakfast well, then I will give the vet's office a call. |
It sounds like it could be pancreatitis & or IBD. My little one had a mix of chicken breast and her dried food. Then promptly jumped on bed and threw it all up... Had some blood in it. Then diarrea. Tested at vet. Was so high off chart, Begin with good vet and narrow it down....It is painful and I have been told Yorkies are prone to it. if you have problems with treatent I can give you info I have... Good luck Jessie and Poohbear |
Table food is never good for Yorkies. Mine were having bouts of diarrhea every couple of months and after our last visit to the vet, she put them on Probiotics with Prebiotics and enzymes. To date: no vomiting or diarrhea! Needless to say, mine will be on it for life! |
