Ringworm?? My little boy has 2 red patches on his ear that look like ringworm, except for there is a black center on one of the rings. I have 2 females, ones ears are perfectly fine, the other has little red bumps. Any ideas? I will have to take them to the vet, but that won't happen for several days. Other than that they are acting perfectly normal and fine. |

If you have a blacklight (urine detection light) you can check to see if the suspect areas florese (show up bright white) under the blacklight, in a dark room. If not, it's not ringworm. Is there a lot of bumps or just 2-3 on your females ears? Mine used to get pimples or ingrown hairs occasionally. I used to take a fingernail and with light pressure, cause them to open then clean the area with mild soap and water. In a few days all signs were gone. That's if I could feel a head on them. Maybe a warm compress may help too? Sometimes a pimple will also cause the hair to fall out in the general area, but should grow back when the infection is cleared. |

Please get a diagnosis immediately if you suspect ringworm. Treating ringworm can take quite sometime. You will have to be very diligent in making sure that everything is disinfected and treatment can last for quite sometime. I thought that it took sometime for the vet to diagnose, something like 15 days although you can see visiable signs in some cases. Good luck. |

Ringworm is a pain to get rid of and is highly contagious to humans and other animals. Definitely see a vet. Most ringworm I've seen in animals is accompanied by dry flaky skin in the area as well. Doesn't always have the "ring" appearance. |
