Baby loosing hair Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Oklahoma Posts: 191 Our baby is loosing her hair -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have returned for the Vet, Our 3 year old yorkie started having problems with her hair after we sprayed her with flea and tick spray(don't want to say the name). She broke out in whelps, after a visit with our Vet, we shaved the areas and put antibiotic ointment on. She got alittle better but never cleared up. Now her back is red, with bumps that look like pimples, and her hair is coming out. Our Vet advised us to use fish oil on her food. If not better we would try something else. We have adopted a 5 year old from a rescue, who had spent her entire life in a cage having one littler after another. We noticed a week ago a red bump on her lip. Our vet gave her a shot of antibiotic, and we are to give her liquid antibiotics twice a day, if it's not better he will remove it. Just wanted to share these stories, and ask for advise. |
Would the areas look like this? Keep in mind although these pictures do not show red and inflamed...the affected areas are. Ringworm in Dogs - Pictures of Ringworm -Symptoms and Treatment It's ringworm and it is contagious. Ringworm is a fungal infection Antibiotics won't clear it up. |
The pimples on her back could be an allergic reaction, she might just have extremely sensitive skin. Good luck, they have a wonderful mommy taking care of them |

I would suggest you take her to a dermatologist! This could be a chemical reaction and they can last for some time. |
Here is a link about OTC flea products: Flea and Tick Product Ingredients: What You Should Know : The Humane Society of the United States From that site is this information: The products The NRDC's report lists flea- and tick-control products marketed under the following major brand names that have been found to contain OPs: Alco, Americare, Beaphar, Double Duty, Ford's Freedom Five, Happy Jack, Hartz, Hopkins, Kill-Ko, Protection, Rabon, Riverdale, Sergeant's, Unicorn, Vet-Kem, Victory, and Zema. Thank you for the response, her pimple like bumps don't look like ringworms...our Vet did take a scrap no mange or mites, I suspect a reaction to the flea spray...he is giving her omega 3 fish oil...any one using this? |
