Yorkie puppy seizures!!!
 
We have a 3 month old yorkie that we got at 5 weeks old which I know is way to young but his living conditions were horrible he was covered with fleas and the owners least favorite. We have spent lots of money and time turning him to the healthy happy puppy he is now. Today we took him to the vet his third visit for grooming. The when we picked him up the groomer said that he had a seizure during grooming. He has never had anything like this happen before and the vet and groomer said they didnt know why it happened to just keep an eye on him. He acted fine when we got home and played for an hour then we layed down in the bed and both fell asleep. The phone rang and startled him which sent him into a seizure where his body was completely rigid and shaking badly and was urinating and foaming at the mouth. I rubbed some karo syrup on his gumsas they were pale white during, and he seems fine and is eating and drinking and playing but if he was hypoglycemic wouldnt we have noticed before now? The vet is not answering there phone which im not happy with anyways as he never had problems before today.

No comparison between our old cocker and our Yorkies. However; LuLu, our cocker, used to have seizures once in awhile. They can be scary. Vet told us they have many dogs on med. for seizures. You might change vets if you can. Yorkies are small and cockers are large, so like I said there is no comparison. However; if you can get hold of your vet he may have an answer. I'm new about Yorkies but an old hand with cockers and doxies.

I really don't have any suggetions besides maybe taking him to another vet, or call a local animal hospital and see what they might think. Have you changed his dog food or anything like that?? He may have seperation anxiety. Does the vet keep food down for them when they are being groomed? Im sorry that you are going thru this, I know it must be quite nerve racking and upsetting, but I would definitely be taking him somewhere where I could get some answers.
