Weird pimple like bump on lip
 
Hey guys, I'm pretty new in the forum, truthfully learning to use it!
My yorkie has a weird pimple looking bump on his lip, we noticed it not too long ago when checking his teeth. It doesn't seem to bother him but today I checked it again and it seemed to have gotten a little bit bigger.

How old is your yorkie?

Warts are very common in puppies and usually fall off on their own.

I found switching to stainless steel bowls prevented any new warts.

Can you feel anything from the inside of the lip?

Yes, stainless steel dishes and washing feeding bowls daily can help reduce them.

Google is about to turn 2 on 04/01/10 (he is an Aprils fool baby) lol
atm we have been feeding him from a porcelain (for food) and a plastic bowl (for water). I touched the inside of his lip, but feel normal.

Porcelain is very good too, but I would perhaps replace the plastic one and see if it helps.

My dog had that a few times. I think it can come from food too, or an ingrown whisker or hair. I used a warm compress 2-3 times a day, and kept the area very clean, by wiping his mouth after eating, and cleaned it with a dilute Betadine solution. It looked like it was improving and went away within a week or so. If it gets any bigger, you may want to involve your vet, also if it interferes with his eating/drinking, or if he's scratching at it. Plastic can cause chemicals to leech into the food and water. Stainless steel is best, ceramic with lead free glaze is good also. If you must have something fancy... look into bowl holders made to fit stainless steel bowls. I need to do that too, as mine dump the water bowl if it's been sitting too long.:D

My mom's yorkie and my yorkie both have what looks the same as your baby. It's under their chin and even along the lip line especially near the corners of lips and in between the toes. First it gets red and inflamed, then has almost scab like blk. crust. It's an allergy (pyodermis?) that flares up every once in awhile, sometimes twice a month, sometimes every 6 months, no rhyme or reason. Our vet prescribed an antifungal ointment and once they display symptoms we rub it on their mouths and it relieves them until it goes away. Our dogs show symptoms of shaking, running from room to room, (acting strange), obsessive paw licking, and growling if we touch anywhere near the area. It must be so uncomfortable for them. It's an inexpensive oitment and great to have on hand instead of running to the vet every time it flares up. We use Animax or Derma-Vet ointment.

are you using plastic bowels for food or water ? If so i would change to stainless steal, glass or ceramic this might help

yes! We did use more plastic when they were younger, (we used the little kids cereal bowls with spiderman or cinderella on them) however, now we only use acrylic bowls when we are on the road with them. What about tupperware containers, because we use them for water or food on the road too?

Interseting about the plastic connection, I never heard of that?
