YT is the Bomb , A BIG THANK YOU! So I have a 19 week old Yorkie named Philly. Since we got her her stool has been off an on abonormal. Well we live in VA and we had a big snow storm this past weekend and of course I had to shovel a small little area in the backyard for her and her brother to go to the bathroom. Well she has been throwing up and had some pretty ewwwy poo's including blood in it and yellow like jelly. I immediatly came to this website and did a search on bloody stools and saw many posts about Stress Collitis. I immediatly put her on her brother's food which a prescription dog food called Purina EN and just started watching her. Took her to the vet yesterday and she has Stress Collitis! The Vet said to keep her on that dog food for one week , she was dehydrated so they had to give her fluids and they gave her some meds for the vomitting and running bowels she has had...so hopefully in a few days she will be as good as new. I just want to thank you for all your posts when this kind of stuff happens it's so important to let each other know....I LOVE LOVE THIS WEBSITE! :animal-pa |
Honestly, as a breeder and dog owner, YT is my best tool! It's like an encyclopedia. Love it too!! :yorkietal |
Glad to hear all worked out so well. I know from experience that the knowledge and information on here is so worth the effort to read and learn. It's not only helps but saves lives too. |

Just curious...did your vet do a fecal test? What you describe also sounds like gardia to me... |
Good News So glad to hear little Philly is doing better. I too was happy to find YT, it has such a wealth of information from others who love our yorkies as much as we do. |

I am so glad your baby is healthy and that you found YT helpful, what a blessing :)! That's what members would hope for - healthy babies, good info, happy members. I hope your kiddo's health continues to improve. Information sharing is a wonderful thing, it made *all* the difference in the world when my Wylie had all this crazy stuff going on (which turned out to be, of all things, Atypical Cushings - a very tough thing to diagnose and treat). It's always wise though to excercise caution when finding information online :). I like to gather information from many sources, including this forum, disease groups, peer-reviewed published journals, vet sites etcetera - and ALSO -- arm yourself with the VERY BEST vet you can find, one who will appreciate your passion for your yorkie's health and willingness to learn/gather information/education and one who is passionate themselves. |
I am glad your pup is feeling better! Yes, YT is a great forum with lots of good information. Sounds like you also have a good relationship with a vet which is key in keeping our pups healthy! Always good to educate ourselves in addition to taking our pups to a vet for diagnosis and treatment of things that could turn serious. Glad you did that in a timely manner and that all is well! :) |
