My baby Jimi is sick Jimi has been sick for a couple of days now. :( He is making these weird sounds and he seems to have shallow breathing, especially after playing. I have watched a million videos and it does sound like reverse sneezing, but he is also sniffling and/or sneezing too. I need the peace of mind.. so I am going to take him in to the vet at around 8 AM today. I will update you guys and let you know what the vet thinks is wrong. Let's hope it is nothing, or something easy to treat...:( Keep Jimi in your thoughts today! :) |
Poor Jimi! I think you are doing the right thing by taking him in. Please let us know how he's doing and what the vet says. :getwellso |
Yes, take him to the vet. Apparently allergies can lead to severe inflammation or rhinitis (this I've learned in my many trips to the vet with my doggie's nose breathing problems). Your little one will be just fine and your mind eased. Let us know what they say. xo |
2 Attachment(s) Okay so I just got back from the vet and Jimi has an upper respiratory infection. I am so glad that I took him in immediately. Apparently, if left untreated, it could have turned into pneumonia. I have to give him liquid medication (Doxycycline) once daily, for 2 weeks. The vet said she has no reason to believe that it is collapsed trachea. (Thank goodness! I need to stop watching these horrible youtube videos.) The vet also said that Jimi is, overall, a very healthy little boy. All of his other vitals, such as his temperature, lungs, and heart were all good. :) Unfortunately, yet again, I have postpone Jimi's neuter (originally set for next week). At first I waited to see if he would lose all of his baby teeth. He did. Then I wanted to make sure I found the perfect vet. I finally did. My new vet is AAHA accredited and has the right anesthesia protocol, but now Jimi is sick. The vet wants to wait until Jimi is completely healthy before she puts him under anesthesia, which I totally understand. So.. she thinks that he will probably have the procedure done in a month. It is about time! Poor thing is humping his baby brother. The new vet loves Jimi. All of the nice ladies there think Jimi is a cutie. I know this is silly but I just love when people compliment my baby. :p Added a couple photos of my boys.. 1 - Whatchu lookin at? 2 - Kind of a weird close up.. but I like it. |
Sorry little Jimi is under the weather. I am sure he will shake this off quickly! Glad to hear you found a vet you are happy with! He is a darling little guy! :) |
Awww, sorry that Jimi is not feel so well. thank goodness it is treatable. That baby just doesn't want to go in for his neuter! lol btw, humping is more of a dominance thing than not being neutered. I'm sure Jimi's just trying to show his little brother who is boss. ;) Hope Jimi starts to feel better soon. Hugs. |
Glad you took him in. Hope he feels better soon. |
Glad you noticed it and got him to the dr. Hope he is well soon. Very cute pics!:p |
Sorry to hear that Jimi is under the weather. Jimi, hope you'll feel better soon! The pics are so adorable! |
Meagan, they are so flippin' cute together :). So glad you have an answer about Jimi, I know you were so worried there...and now, he will be on the mend! It is such a relief to find the right vet too. Hugs to the boys. |
Thank you everyone for your kind words. :) Jimi is doing fine. He is actually taking his medicine really well, surprisingly. Still sneezing/sniffling.. but I am sure it will take a few days for the meds to kick in. On another note.. Guess who I rushed to the vet this morning? Marshall. He has the same thing! He was also sniffling and sneezing so I had to bring him in immediately. (Just because he is so young and I don't want to take any chances.) Soo.. I am thinking that Marshall was a carrier of it, and then he gave it to Jimi, and he is just now having symptoms of it himself. He is also on medication.. Clavamox. My poor sicky boys. :( |

Well.. I didn't want to start a new thread so I figured I just re-post on this one. Is it too soon to expect results from the meds? Jimi seems to be completely over it.. (although we will continue the meds until the prescribed time anyway), but Marshall is still sneezing/sniffling. Am I just overreacting and need to give the medicine more time to work? I just hate to see him sicky..:( |
