Hip Problem My baby boy, Dolce, is a little over 3 months old. He broke his leg about a month ago and they thought his growth plate was shot. But when they took his huge cast off(as you can see in the pic) they said it healed perfectly! But they discovered a problem with a hip joint and they said it was genetic. He might have to have surgery to remove the joint or socket? What im trying to ask is has anyone else been through this with their little one? And how is the recovery after the surgery? :aimeeyork Dolce's mommy |

Here is a link with information about it: Femoral head and neck excision |
Toby is 7 weeks post op from surgery for legg perthes. He still holds the leg up at times but walks well on it most of the time. He has had a lot of muscle wastage because of the lack of use before surgery so will take time to build up again and has hydrotherapy once a week. It's amazing how he can support himself tho with no hip joint. Vet is expecting him to be totally normal in another 4- 5 weeks. |

It is especially easier on smaller pups. They do not have as much weight to bear. |
