Ted made it through the sedation; yet they could not diagnose him cause they can't see properly without an endoscopy; so now have to see a specialist. Meanwhile, my wee man is still struggling to breathe. Five vet visits, three different vets, $1,000 plus and we're no further ahead. I am so mad and sad!! I took him to this 24 hour vet cause they advertise they do endoscopy cause I read on here he may need that; turns out they don't so now he'll have to be sedated again. Waiting now on specialist to call for an appointment. It's just torture listening to him gasping, and they just send you on your way like it's no big deal. Thanx everyone for keeping Ted in your thoughts. luv corrinne |
Hi. What a shame. How long has he been doing this? Is it a chronic thing or did it just start all of a sudden? What color are his gums? Do you give him any kind of chew toys? Had you made any changes anywhere in your house at the onset of his breathing difficulty? Any changes in his diet? Is he eating and drinking okay? Any mucous in his nose or mouth? Does he have a fever? |
Ted stayed in hospital overnight to receive oxygen and wait till today to re-sedate him for catscan and scope. they just called with bloodwork and protein and white cells are high but they said it could be due to th inflammation going on in his nose. He will go back under this afternoon, and pray they find what is blocking his nasal passages. Thanx again for caring. Another anxious day for Wee Ted and me. |
Keeping you both in my prayers... |
So sorry you and poor little Ted are having to go through all this. Hope they can locate the cause and get him up and breathing easily. Sending prayers for your little Ted. |
Thank you, guys. A whole month of this with it getting progressively worse. I still feel it happened when he choked on a raw carrot but until now three different vets dismissed it; but specialist feels it's a possibility that he inhaled a bit or regurgitated when he choked and there's some vomit clogging. we'll know this afternoon. hope it's someting that easy to fix and not a tumor or something. The anticipation over the last days has been horrible. I did not sleep for 43 hours between er hospitl and now the specialty hospital. they kept him last night so we both could get some rest. i feel better physically at least today. thanx again |
Poor baby my prayers are with the both of you. |
I'm so sorry you and your little guy are going through this! :( :( Sending prayers your way... |
Sweetie, my prayers are with you both. I'm hoping it really is something simple that can be fixed without any further wait or suffering for your little one. I'll be watching for an update. Take care... |
praying they find the problem/cause quickly and little Ted gets relief. :getwellso |
you are all so nice and caring. still waiting on the call. staying at a friend's house close to the vet cause there are no specialty clinics in my town. I have felt so ignored and dismissed when I told my "carrot" story to the previous vets (looked at me like I was ridiculous for even thinking such). even if it turns out that's not the problem, you'd think their alarm would have gone off when I kept returning seeking help from various places that it can't be just allergy. It was a slow progression to get this bad; yet I was at the vet as soon as I heard trouble until it got to where he couldn't move without struggle to inhale. anyway, little vent there for me. sorry. i'll be back when i get the call |
Just checking for an update. I'm praying they find out what's causing this. |
It is so frustrating when the vets do not take the time to make you feel better. The stress cannot be good for the dog and all that we want to do is make sure that the vets have all/any information that may help in diagnosing something. I have to say that I really appreciate that in my vet, she will listen to what is being said and then decide what to do with (if anything) the information. I don't know if she is really listening and digesting the information or just letting me get it out, but I do know that she is helping to alleviate my stress by listening. All kidding aside, she and I (us) work together on diagnosing and treatment. We're still sending our prayers for your baby. |
Ted has a mass 2 centimeters wide by 2 long in back of his nose. they cannot tell if it is a foreign matter that tissue has grown around (piece of carrot) or a tumor until surgery. biopsy will be back tomorrow. He cannot breathe any easier but he will not die while waiting for surgery to be scheduled; so I will pick him up later today, they said, and meet with surgeon early next week. they said it is in a tough place to reach and most likely will go through soft palate to remove (at least that's what I think I heard through my tears). so for now me and wee ted will be pacing the floor at nights when he has his tougher breathing moments. thanx, guys. Nice to have folk you know will listen (like Hot rod's mom said) and at least relieve some stress through venting. I'll keep you updated. luv corrinne |
I am so sorry to hear about Ted, but I am so glad they found the cause. Praying it is not a tumor and can be removed successfully. |
