My dog ate a tissue My dog ate a tissue on thursday and had really bad diarrhea. Friday we held beck on feeding him and he was fine. Saturday I fed him a little bit and he had diarrhea starting from 10 p.m. and the last one was at 10 a.m. this morning and I noticed a tiny spot of blood. I tried feeding him tonight some rice and chicken broth and we will not eat it. We are going to the vet 1st thing tomorrow morning but I was wondering iv anyone else has experienced this or has any idea if it is mroe then the tissue he ate. Thank you. |
oh no! my cavalier king charles spaniel ate a tissue once. she was bigger than a little yorkie though. i never saw it come out in her poop. I guess it just dissolved? i have no advice but good luck! |
Thank You for the response Thanks for responding. |
Tissue and napkin eater.... I am amxious to see what your vet says. My Mr. Darcy grabs napkins if they fall on the floor and tears them apart - I think he may ingest a little, but seems OK - I did not think they could harm him. Good luck. |
Pixie and Daisy sometimes gets into tissue but it has never made them sick. They usually just pass it the next day. Once my golden retriever Goldie ate paper towels and she ate a lot bc she got them out of the trash when I was not home. The next day when she pooped they were stuck. It took her a good hour to get them out. It was awful! Do you know how much your dog ate? |
Was it a regular tissue or a tissue with additives like lotion? I wouldnt think a regular tissue would cause much an issue but one with lotion, etc might. If it is one of those special tissues, you might want to see what the ingredients are and let the vet know. Do you know if he may have gotten into anything else? |
Thank You Thanks everyone for responding and your thoughtfulness. It was just a plain tissue and I am beginning to think his problem is not related to the tissue because I think that is dissolvable and the problem wouldn't go on this long. I will let you know what the vat says. Thanks Again. |

My 6 month old puppy ate a tissue but he ended up throwing it up. He actually does this quite a bit. We mostly keep him out but sometimes, the people that live in my house forget to close the bathroom door. I am going to buy a trash bin with a lid. |
What the vet said The x-rays and blood work showed a swollen digestive tract from eating something foreign. He was given some cortisone at the vet's as well as other meds. He was sent home with a bag of special diet food and perscription he needs to take. Thank God it was not anything serious. Thanks everyone for your concern. |
Ella has gotten a hold of a napkin that fell on the ground and we always catch her before she can eat it. She'll just shred it. I think even if we didn't take it away from her she wouldn't eat it, just tear it up. |
I am so glad he is ok and the meds should help him feel better soon. |
