vomiting and diahrrea My Yorkie had diahrrea last week. I took him to the vet and she put him on an antibiotic he needed to take twice a day. He finished it tonight. However a few minutes ago he just vomited. Earlier in the week I caught him chewing up a pencil that one of my sons dropped on the floor and none of us caught in time to pick up. Our puppy had chewed out about 1/4 inch of of the lead out of the pencil. I'm not sure if he chewed enough to get lead poisoning or not. Should I take him back to the vet tomorrow? I don't know what to do. Am I being over sensitive and just freaking out over this? I just worry over everything with our puppy. He is like the baby girl I never had. We have two 10 year old boys and with DH and two male cats I'm the only girl in the family. So spoiling the puppy is the next best thing to having a little girl for me. I just love the puppy. He is a joy to all of us. But our boys have a lot to learn how to puppy-proof things around them. I have to continually keep after them to keep things picked up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :) Julie |
I will leave the advice giving to others with more experience. I just wanted to say that I hope your little one is better soon. What is his name? Welcome to YT! |
I would at least call vet about that one to be safe |
THank you for your replies. My vet was not available today so I decided to just watch him and give the vet a call on Monday. Cooper hasn't vomited any further or had anymore loose bowel movements like he had last week. I'm hoping that is a good sign. I worry about our puppy just like he is one of our boys. :animal-pa They are like little babies! Thank you for your posts and for being concerned. I really appreciate it. I haven't been able to post much here and definitely need to. This is a great website. I don't know of any yorkie owners and would love to get to know some people who have yorkies like our Cooper. :) Julie |

My girlfriend has a problem with her young adult boys, leaving unfinished McDonald food in their rooms and on the floor. Her almost 2 year old yorkie still gets into stuff and hence a bout of diarreah or upset tummy still happen..... |

I might also add this story: my son who is an adult went to bed one night and left an unfinished drink (had vodka in it) sitting on his coffee table. He woke up to a sick yorkie who is 11 years old. Bailey had jumped up on the coffee table and finished the drink and had to be rushed to the vet. Thankfully, after being at the vet all day on fluids, he was fine. I don't think we ever should let our guard down with these pups. |
