Terrified owner, Indifferent terry Earlier today I was playing with my dog Baby Girl when I notice a large bump near her nipple. I called my mother and when she touched it there was no reaction from Baby at all. However it looks rather serious. I am afraid it is a tumor though the fear is based off of the death of my cat who died of breast cancer a few years back. I keep trying to see if Baby has slowed down or has any reaction to it at all but alas she does not. If I press against it it moves a bit and feels more solid then a liquid form. Please can anyone help me? |
You should probably call the vet tomorrow and have her seen this week. It could be something minor too. Try not to worry too much until you know for sure. |
She needs to be seen by a vet. It could be a mammary tumor, but not all of them are cancerous; and even if they are, they are often encapsulated and have not spread if caught early. Good luck! |
is your dog spay? |
I pray that your Baby Girl will be alright. |
My baby had one too, but it turned out to be a benign cyst. Have it checked, but don't worry too much. |
If it moves around freely and doesn't appear to be attached to the muscle it is probably a sebaceous tumor which is harmless and can usually be left alone. But PLEASE take her to a vet for diagnosis. None of us here can do that for you; a professional has to check it. |
How old is Baby Girl? Has she been spayed? Mammary tumors are a concern in unspayed females or those who weren't spayed until after their second heat. Get her into see your vet asap. I hope it's nothing serious! |
