Thanks MaryAnn and Bonnie, We are all exposed to Histo and other fungus spores everyday the difference is our bodies fight it off and it dies. Lola for some reason had a low immune system at the time and did not fight it off. My others dogs were all exposed to it but did not get it. We can all learn from eachother and can be armed with the right questions for ask our vets or specialist. |
Just saw your update and so happy for you both and the wonderful vets... But don't forget the wonderful MOM that did not sit back and watch... We must do as our little ones ask us to... Protect and help them... You did it all... cutos! God bless, Jessie and Poorbear |
I very much need to know about the things you just mentioned. Unfamiliar with them or symtoms. Any place they get it from or catch from other dogs??? Please advise. Jessie |
Lissette, So glad both of you are doing great. When you hadn't posted an update in awhile I was fearing the worst, but didn't want to disturbe you and thought it was best to wait for you to post. Prayers for Lola, you and the rest of your family. Mary |

Lissette, we have been there and know the panic and fear this brings.. our prayers are with you and being new I can see so many people come together to help with advice and much support... What a fine group and I feel fortunate to have found all of you... You take care and try to rest for your big day tomorrow.. Our prayers are with you JESSIE and Poohbear. |
Thanks so much for the info.. Just cannot get enough info to help when they need us.. I am new and somehow get the things out of order. !st I thought she took a turn for bad and tests tomorrow. Then looks like she is better and on the right track. I like the last choice... Thank God and take care. Jessie |
It's been awhile but I tought I would update everyone on my precious Lola. She is a fat and happy girl. 6lbs! Still has the Histoplasmosis but we are treating her twice a day with Fluconizole. Probably for the next couple of years. I will be taking her back to the specialist for a recheck on her levels of this dreadful disease. It's a slow process. Her Histo was decended in her intestines and that is always fatal. We pulled her thru and she continues to get better each day. Never stop fighting for your baby. :) |
I think of Lola often, and I will always remember how you fought to save her. You are an amazing mom, and I am so in awe of you because of your devotion to your baby. You are such an inspiration, and I think that people would learn so much from reading your thread. We should never give up hope or give up on our pups, unless we need to for their sake. I pray that Lola gets better and better each day. I hope you have many magical moments and blessings this Christmas and that the coming year brings love, happiness, health, and laughter to you and your family. |
When Maggie had bloody diarrhea a month or so ago I was scared to death. I remembered what you went through with Lola. I never got a definite diagnosis, through all the testing, they were able to tell me what she did not have. And Maggie loves to play in the mulch. I'm glad is Lola is so much better. There's nothing better than a well puppy. Go Lola! |
