Just seeing this. Here is a link for anyone interested .... Chocolate Poisoning in Dogs - Tips to Identify Symptoms, Treating and Prevention |
I have had two experiences with chocolate. The first, dog ate A LOT of milk chocolate kisses, foil and all! She got sick from it and vomitted it all up. That was gross!!! The second, was a very small min pin that ate 1/2 a stick of solid milk chocolate. A lot for her size. It made her heart race, and it sped her up like she was on speed! Literally! Imagine the zoom zooms times 3. I called the vet and they told us to just watch her and make sure that was all she did and gave us more serious warnings to look for. He said the milk chocolate should be ok. (not ok, in that they can have it, just not as serious as others.) It was kind of funny watching her. They told us that the kind of chocolate does make a difference. Like someone else said the toxicity level is different. Dark chocolate and cocoa is supposed to be the worst for dogs. Good luck, but I bet your baby will be fine with the exception of a tummy ache. |
Glad to hear all is well  |
Glad your little one is ok, but just wanted to let you know. Joey got into the trash after I had thrown away some old homemade fudge. He ate a couple of pieces (it looked like) I called the vet and she said not to worry about him unless he started getting sick. She also said its the baking chocolate that is the most dangerous and coco. Of course I was leaving for out of town and was taking out the last of the trash when this happened and was counting on my husband to take care of him while I was gone, Joey was only 13 weeks at this time. Aren't they just great to pick the best time to get into something!!!! |
