red spot on pupil?
 
Hello, everyone! :)
I went in today to give one of my Yorkies his eye ointment (he has what is described as a "chronic conjuncitivits") and I took a good look at his eyes today and noticed a red spot on what looked like could be his pupil...either way, it is on the inside of his eye and not able to be wiped off. It looks almost like a blood spot. Has anyone ever had this with their yorkie? It's worrying me :(

:( no but are you seeing an opthamologist as i would recommend going to one if chronic conjunctivitis as this may be dry eye did they do the schirmer test to rule out dry eye? anything that is chronic i would see a specialist to rule out any other possibilities as vets do not specialize in one thing - we saw an opthamologist when dex was having constant we call it boogey eyes as i wanted to be sure not dry eye so she spent an hour with us and was very thorough and non-invasive but it was the best $160 i ever spent as i walked out knowing he was ok and no dry eye just allergies and she told me what was best and not to over use saline solution as it messes with the natural tear production. She was very informative and i know i would not have gotten that from a vet

No, I'm in Youngstown...about three hours north in all the lake effect snow :mad: The vet never recommended an opthamologist to us...I'll have to bring it up. Poor lil guy has had all kinds of health problems (pancreatitis, a naaaasty skin infection that cleared up after months, heart condition, slipped discs, arthritis...he's an old guy too :)) Because of all his health problems, I worry terribly :(

i think this might be an eye ulcer :( and from what i have read are very painful so i would get in asap just read this link - get to an opthamologist though and I am giving you the link to one in ohio

eyes are nothing to mess with :( here is the link of opthamologists in usa so scroll down to ohio and hopefully there is one close to you

lol so funny my dh is from youngstown he went to campbell memorial high school :)

the weird thing is, he is not acting like he is in pain at all. Whenever he is in pain he pants, shakes, and hides. He was acting fine all day and was acting fine when giving him his medicine. That's what is throwing me off because I would also think if I had a blood spot on my eye, I'd be in some morbid pain :eek:

not necessarily it could be you caught it in the very beginning stage from being something - maybe a reaction to med not sure but i would have it checked out and i would definitely go to opthamologist as chronic conjunctivitis sounds to me like dry eye and especially in an older dog as like humans my opthamologist said as we age our eyes stop producing as much tears as when we are younger and why many people cannot wear contacts as they age as eyes are too dry so i am sure the dogs can have the same issue and that would be a different med for dry eye than conjunctivitis it is cyclosporine

Hi! I saw this post is over two years old but I am hoping you will see it. Today I noticed a bright red spot on my yorkie's pupil as well. He seems to have all of the exact same symptoms. He doesn't act like it hurts, his behavior is normal, and he isn't sensitive to it. Im assuming it is blood and am really worried but I don't think I can get an appointment at my vet until Monday. I am curious as to what was wrong with your puppy. Any help would be great.
