Should I be worried. So I woke up today and I found mucousy bloody diarrhea today on the floor. I have three Yorkies so I dont know which one it came from. Should I be super worried. Should I take them all in to the vet. What could this be, none of them seem to be out of place. THey were all playing this morning like nothing was wrong. |
The same thing happened with Missy! I took her to the vet right away. She had a bacterial infection :( The vet was most worried about her becoming dehydrated. Please take her to the Vet as soon as you can. They gave her an antibiotic and had to do the deworming regiment again, just in case. :( I hope it's nothing serious but take them in just in case. |
Okay I called the vet Im bringing them in, I will keep you updated. Thanks |
I hope it is nothing serious and they are okay!! I just went thru an on again off again bout of diarrhea with Zoey. Began about a week after her spay surgery. She had VERY loose stools one day and then the next day was fine. But then early early Christmas morning the diarrhea began again and lasted all morning. I called the ER Vet and they had me withhold her dinner and then in the morning switch to boiled chicken and white rice and only about half her normal quantity. We did this for two days during which she had no poop. We talked to our regular vet and gave her two more days (tho scary to do this). On the 4th day I decided to add a frozen dallop of organic pumpkin and she went in the morning. She is on a regular poop schedule again. Note, we did have to wean her back on her kibble. Our vet said she probably got a bacterial infection while she was there being spayed (since she does not go out right now with all the snow). I for one, am pleased to have been able to make her better without antibiotics but would do whatever the vet deemed appropriate. Good luck and I will look back for an update! |
The doctor's dont know what could be wrong, they think it might be parasites so they gave me antibiotics and sent me home after the vet counseled me on proper feeding regiments for my yorkies. I could have punched her in the face. I didn't feed them this morning because I didn't know which one was sick and I didn't want them throwing up in the car on the way to the bet. Apparently feeding regiments are more important that bloody diarrhea. Anyways, luckily I had a poop sample from this morning and I gave it to them to run there tests and they are going to call me tomorrow. |
Oh I forgot, Chewy was the one that was sick, I thought it was him because he was acting weird this morning. |
I am so sorry about the way the vet treated you!!!! :( :( :( When I took Missy she just told me a bland diet and lots of water. I gave her boiled chicken, chicken broth, cottage cheese, etc...For a week. The vet was concerned about her dehydrating because she's so tiny. This might be the case with Chewy. I'm glad your furbaby is going to be ok!!! And again, sorry about the vet. :( you did the best thing you could by taking them to the vet an the vet should have been WAY more helpful and understaning!!! |
I am sorry too! I was just mentioning this to my DH the other day, about the seemingly insensitivity/shortness I felt from the vet office as of late... maybe it is the stress of the season or they are extremely busy... maybe like a hospital setting. Who knows - but sorry for your situation. Most importantly tho, they have what they need to run tests and you know who is having the problem. Lets hope and pray it is nothing serious! Keeping Chewy in our thoughts and prayers! |

So I gave Chewy a bath well for one bc he needed one and mostly because when I am sick a hot bath makes me feel better...weird I know, and he did eat and drink a little (good sign) and I gave him his first dose of antibiotics. No vomitting or diarrhea since this morning. He is curled/cozied up on my lap in a blanket sleeping like a baby. I am going to keep my eye on him and I will let you ladies know how he is doing. Thanks for your concern by the way, its nice to know people really understand and care. Oh and Happy New Years! |
glad that Chewy is feeling better. Let's hope that the vet develops a little of a bedside manner. There is nothing worse than having someone you trust and look to who is not sympathetic. Hugs to you. |
how is our buddy chewy doing? It could be stress colitis too since dh is gone did he just leave recently and is chewy close to him ? |
My Yorkie ate chocolate Hello, Maybe you know what could happen to my yorkie, `cause you have 3 yorkies . Phoebe (5 months old) ate a mini chocolate like 30 min ago, she found it on the floor, it was a kisses (with almonds), this is the first time she ate a chocolate. I know dogs should never eat chocolate, so that`s why I`m a little worried. Does any harmfull could happen to her? Thanks for your responses  |
Bumping this so others can see and hopefully respond quickly !! |
