I will keep Yoda in my prayers. My pom had severe liver disease from the medicine she was taking for Cushing's Disease so they put her on liver medication and within 9 months all her liver values were normal and she came off the medicine. |
Im so sorry Yoda is going thru this. All of you will be in my prayers. Sending yorkie kisses (lots of em) to Yoda and family.... |
You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. I know everyone says this but try to stay as positive as you can. God bless you! :hands::hands::hands::hands::hands::hands::hands: |
The same thing happened with my Auggie Doggie. He was 7 yrs. old when i noticed his stomach all distended and bloated. I rushed him to the vet and they thought it was pancreatitis. They kept him overnite and did alot of tests and it came back Liver Shunt Disease. He had to be on a very strict diet. They gave me Science Diet AD (canned) and he wouldn't eat it for me. This all happened the end of October 3 years ago. We were going back and forth to the vets 2 to three times a week. They put him on all sorts of medications: he was on Lasiks, Dennisol, and Batrill. The Lasiks made him urinate alot. He was not a candidate for the surgery, but they were telling me it could be controlled by diet. My poor baby, was not getting any better. He would have some good days, and alot of bad days too. I nursed him till Feb. And had to come to the painful and heartbreaking decision of putting him to sleep. To this day, when I look back, I wish I had gone to another vet for a second opinion. My heart goes out to you, because I do know what you are going through and what your poor baby is going through. I learned alot from my experience, there is a lot of information on line about Liver Shunt Disease and the stages and what can be done as far as surgery and food. The most important thing I learned, is their diet. Good luck with your baby. My prayers are with you both. |
Awww, we're sorry to hear about Yoda and we will keep him in our prayers. Barney had pancreatitis one time and he had to be hospitalized too with similar high readings. We figured out that he got it from a dog cookie he ate - it was not even that high in fat! Anyway, he recovered and all his readings went back to normal thereafter but it was a scary, horrible few days!! Keep us posted!! |
I am so sorry to hear that Yoda is not feeling well and about the health issues he may be facing. We all know how awful it feels when our babies get sick. I will keep Yoda in my thoughts and sending prayers for a full & quick recovery. |
I'm so sorry you are entering into this world!!!! The distended abdomen is very scary as this can be a key symptom of PLE. Please make sure they do a Spec CPL that includes a TLI, folate and cobalamine levels and also pay particular attention to the protein, albumin and cholesterol levels. You've had him on great food, so hopefully this is a fluke flare up. Many of us have had great results consulting with Susan Davis for supplementation that can help with many of these issues. She may be able to help you guys out as well. Pet Health Pet Nutritionist Holistic Pet Please do not hesitate to PM any of us who have been through similar issues such as my Sissy being dianogsed with early stage PLE last fall. Sending our prayers for a speedy recovery and a diagnosis that can be easily managed.... |
So sorry Yoda is not feeling well. Prayers & well wishes heading your way. |

These treats were very likely "not" the problem... :) |
So sorry to hear Yoda's going through all this right now FE. We'll be praying for you all. Must be so scary for you all. Please keep us updated on what the vet is able to find out. |
2 Attachment(s) THANK YOU everyone for the kind words, good thoughts, hugs, kisses, and prayers! We definitely appreciate each and every one of them! Yoda is home tonight and feeling really lethargic and tired. I fed him some water (licking it off my hand). But he's just been resting and laying down the rest of the time. We did get the blood results, the ALKP, AMYL, and LIPA was extremely high. The ALT and TBIL was high. The WBC, GRANS, and NEUT, and EOS was high as well. Everything else was in the normal range. This is what he got done today: Exam/Consultation CBC W/15-17 Chemist Radiography Abd./Thorax Fluid Therapy Set Up --Fluid 1st Bag --I.V. Catheter Include --I.V. Administrat. Set Day Hospitalization Nursing/Injections (x3) Maropitant Inj/cc Convenia Inj X 3.6mg (x9) Tramadol 50mg (gen) (x15) Yoda was not on any steroids or any medication or anything before this incident. LuvMySissy, Ellie May, and Wylie's Mom: Thanks for the information! We're going to ask about the Spec cPL test tomorrow for sure... and ask about the other things too. miabellaamoure & Phoebe: PLEASE don't worry about it, it wasn't the PB treats you gave Winky in the GE... Thanks for the good wishes! I do have the bloodwork labs scanned, and if anyone is interested I'd be happy to share them... Here's a couple of pix of him tonight in my arms with the catheter still in his leg, as he'll go back tomorrow and they thought it best to leave it in... |
