Young Yorkie Had Stroke :animal-paHi there, I have a 4 yr. old that had a stroke this weekend. She is wobblie and has a hard time using her tongue. Eating has become very challenging and she is not her spunky playful self. The vet said to give it time. Watch eating and drinking but also he gave her a shot to help with the tongue and inflemation. Gave her a IV for some fluids.. I am not giving up on her. I have to give her a pill to help now its the same as the shot was. She is such a great dog and is my girl. If you have any information or ideas of how I can help her please let me know. |
So sorry to hear that. What a shock to have one so young have a stroke. Did the vets have any information as to why this happened/ |
How awful for you and your baby. Four years is so young to suffer a stroke. Prayer's coming for your baby to get well again. Don't ever give up, there is alway's hope. Your love alone can do wonder's for your little one. I have no information for you but hoping someone else can give you some. Hugs, and welcome to YT. |
:animal-pa I haven't been logged on in ages but that's a story for another day. I am dealing with a situation just like this right now with my 13 and a half year old baby girl. Tomorrow it will be a week. I thought stroke right away and so did my vet. She had head tilt and was very wobbly when trying to walk. Loss of appetite and refusing to drink water. So I was giving nutrical and some Karo syrup. Then watered down her canned food and was giving it to her in a syringe and also water that way. She started to improve and eat on her own with a little help, then yesterday was a bad day for her refusing everything. So back to square one. I started searching on line for whatever I could find. I came across Canine Peripheral Vestibular Syndrome. The symptoms are so much like a stroke but it has to do with the inner ear. Vets do not know why this happens but is seen more in older dogs than younger ones but younger dogs can be afflicted with it as well.Symptoms usually last anywhere from three days to three weeks. All I can do now is just what I'm doing and alot of extra care. Maybe this is what your baby has, it's worth checking into. I wish you and your baby the best. Please let me know if I can help further. |
This is my baby Tucker's mommy and we are really worried about her. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Very interesting to hear about the possibility of the ear problem. |
