My baby just had a bad seizure I have a 3 year old baby girl named Rafael, she's so sweet I can't believe this is happening to her. She is healthy 6.5 lbs. No problems other than not growing up with puppies to help her socially but has sense been a great addition to the family, the mother dog didn't have any problems the owner was aware of. She had one minor episode of a seizure last week nothing too severe I'm a dog groomed and have seen a few, she came out of it fine so I wasn't too worried because it came when she was excited over playing frisbee with the other dogs. Today when I was at work I got a cAll from my boyfriend whom was freaking out she was having a bad one and lost it and ran into a rose bush. By the time I was home she was laying with him wrapped in a blanket. It looks as tho the white around her iris in an eye is all blood shot, i'd describe it as a burst blood vessle from stress having seen it on the grooming table. And it was as tho her motor skills were non existant. Like he body leans to one side and she can't stand or rolls to one side, reminds me of a stroke victim. She's been laying there All day, I was reading and they say post seizure effects can last. Few days... She's slightly responsive, I put kyro syrup in mouth every hour or so, I was going to give her till tomorrow before I go to vet to see if she pls through ok... She isn't complelty parylized on one side just loss of movement skills has this happens to anyone still being hours after a seizure |
I would not waste time getting her to the vet. Sometimes the vet can get a better clue in the minutes just after the seizure. And there has to ba a reason for the seizures. If she has one while you are not home to help bring her out of it , she can die from it. |
take her in and have blood work done and see what is going on. If Alt is high it could be liver disease. You need to rule that out and then it could possibly be epilepsy due to her age but it is not uncommon for liver shunt to creep up at that age but usually at 3 it is epilepsy. Please make sure no rosemary in food or treats or shampoo as dogs that are prone to seizures should not have any rosemary. Did anything change like food, treat, etc that could have triggered it? Did the seizure happen after eating? She seems to young for her to have a heart attack or stroke at that age but i would get her in and get a full blood panel done asap do a 12 hr fast tonight and then get her blood work as it is always best like in humans to have a 12 hr fast so no food will throw it off. Also make sure it is sent out to a lab. If you can do a urine catch in am on back of wee wee pad i would take that in as well |
