brown frothy vomit with small blood clots I need advice for Lily. I will be calling vet tomorrow. She has been throwing up brown frothy vomit with small blood clots in it. Lily is not eating. Any one know what this could be? |
It could be throat or stomach irritation causing the blood. She definitely needs to see a vet |
I would give a call to the vet for sure with something like that. I would be worried. Can she keep anything down? It's important to keep her hydrated and if she can't keep anything down waiting til tomorrow may not be a good idea. |
She has not vomited since this morning, she is now eating. I will still call vet. |
Glad she is feeling better. |
Anytime you see blood coming from place they shouldn't be coming from, they need to see a vet ASAP. |
if it is coffee ground blood it is most likely an ulcer. If it is blood that is bright red most likely from small intestines and can be pancreatitis. Sometimes when they throw up they can break a blood vessel as well. I would have her seen if she was mine |
sick puppy I don't know alot medically about dogs except from having them all my life but as an emergency medical tech. most times anything frothy is coming through a lung, especially with the small clots. The brownish color could be old blood, if it's a current bleed it will be red. Belle vomits sometimes when she doesn't eat and it looks find of foamy but it's either clear or yellow bile. If she's eating and keeping it down that's a good sign, but still do call the vet ASAP and especially if she starts again. Little ones like these furbabies can bleed internally without you realizing it until it's too late. Take care and keep her warm. |
