vomitting and liquid stool Late last night Mayme threw up 7 times. The first two were her dinner and the rest was yellow bile. I took her to the emergency vet because I had also noticed extremely dark red and blackish blue spots on her chest. Come to find out this is only bruising from her bile acids panel that she had ran on Friday. The er vet said she probably had acute vomitting and gave her a femotidine and cerenia injection. She also had a slight fever. The vet asked if she had a regular bm yesterday - which she had. However, this morning I took her out to potty and her stool was just yellow liquid. Now, im even more worried. I also heard her stomach gurgling early this morning, but haven't heard that in a few hours. Should I take her back to the emergency vet and tell them her stool is now only liquid or do you think this is just a bug that's going to pass soon? Mayme doesnt have a regular vet at the moment due to some complications with Banfield but I had a new vet in mind that I want to start her going to see. Can you just walk into a vet office and be seen right away even though you are new? If she doesnt feel better today, I think she definately needs to be seen first thing tomorrow. |
Sorry she is sick. I would call the er vet and tell them her new symptom and see what they advise, since you were just there they may help you over the phone. As far as a new vet if they have walk in hours you should be able to just go and get her started there. If they have appointments you will have to make an appointment but explain she was at the er vet and needs to be seen asap. Please keep us posted. |
i would call er as what you are describing could be pancreatitis which runs in this breed. Is she acting lethargic or tossing and turning as if in pain? |
The er vet recommended that she come back in. We were there for 4 hours! ugh..so slow! They did a CBC, heartwork, and tick born diseases tests all which came back good. They tried to do a fecal exam, but she was empty. They think she just has a bug and sent me home with a weeks worth of metrodanizole. The vomitting has stopped, but I haven't seen her go #2 since yesterday morning. She still won't go outside to potty..in fact she hasn't really pottied at all since the vet visits. Anytime I grab the leash she hides. Maybe she is just afraid to be taken back to the vet...? I made her some boiled rice and she will eat that, but not her kibble. She's so confusing. I don't know if she's just being stubborn or afraid that her tummy will hurt if she eats her kibble. Thanks for your suggestions and concern! |
Just give her the rice or chicken and rice until she is ready to eat her kibble again. When they are sick they need something soft and easy to digest. I hope she is feeling better tomorrow. |
