Help Thrown up 4 Times Today
 
Hello YT

I have some bad news I think Polo is sick with something. So this Morning I fed him his normal food eggs and kibble. And a little bit later he threw up 2 times all the food he ate. So then later at dinner time I feed him a little bit of chicken with kibble.
I heard Chicken is good for sick tummies? he threw that up too then not very long ago he ate some plain kibble, and threw that up he obviously can NOT keep any food down.

Is it possible for dogs to get stomach bugs?

Should I take him to vet?

is there any food that I can feed that he can keep down?



please please I need some answers I don't what is the matter with him

Polo just threw up 2 more times that is 6 times in ONE day

Boiled hamburger and rice is pretty easy on the tummy. You can try a little pepto too.
I found this amount to give them on a site:
Pepto Bismol
Try no more than 1 tablespoon of Pepto Bismol for dog diarrhea. Specifically .5 to 1.5 ml per pound orally every 12 hours

Pepto helps w/upset too.

You should not give any more food or water tonight and see how he is in the A.M.. How old is he and what does he weigh?

alright I already took his food away and I will take away his water he is one and 1/2 years old and weighs 4.3 lbs

You should give Famotidine. I don't know if you are near a Wal-mart or if they are open but I buy it there. The equate Acid Controller is Famotidine 10mg and give 1/4 tab every 12 hrs. Otherwise I believe Pepcid is Famotidine. Do you have a dropper? if so in about 2 hrs give a small amt of water if he keeps that down give more in another 2 and so on . But if he throws it up don't give any more. If you can get the Famotidine that would be very helpfull.

Some dogs cannot handle turkey meat. Don't give him anything tonight, just water & feed him boiled chicken & rice in the morning. If he continues to throw up tonight & is also dry heaving or throwing up white foam, suspect it's a blockage & take him to the ER right away.
I didn't read your 2nd sentence. Is he throwing up everything you're giving him? Do you think it's a blockage? Has he gotten into anything?

Yes he has thrown up ever meal I have fed him today he has not gotten into anything that I know I think he may have gotten the stomach bug from the groomers

Because he is so small and young you need to keep a close eye on him through the night. Watch for dehydration and hypoclycemia. These little ones can go down hill so fast. If he's not much better by morning take him to the vet.

I will keep an eye on him all night right know he is asleep in my lap should I feed him anything in the Morning or not?

Sorry your little guy is sick. That is a lot of throwing up in one day I would watch him closely and if he shows any signs of being wobbly or dehydration take him in to a ER vet. Hopefully it is a bug and he will be better tomorrow.

You can also give him some pedialite with a little water so he want dehydrate.

Only if he's able to keep water down. Then give a small amt of boiled skined chicken and white rice. But if he throws that up take him to the vet. If you could get the Famotidine that would be the best as that's more then likely what the vet will give. And the sooner the better.

Isn't immodium for diarrhea? He's throwing up, not the runs.

When was he at the groomers? He pooped a small poop at 7:00pm and yes it looked normal

Good deal then probably not a blockage. But he is still in serious condition at this point so no food till he can keep water down.

Also anything you give him needs to be at room temp. Too hot or too cold irritates the tummy and causes gas. So water should be given at room temp and in small amounts.

He was at the groomers This Tuesday but the person who groomed him was sick with a Cold:eek: I am NOT going to feed him anything tonight I will see how he is in the Morning if not better I will take him to the Vet ASAP

UPDATE: Polo seems a lot better this Morning he was running around and barking out the window I gave him an ice cube last and no throw up last night or this Morning since he was begging for food I gave him a little bit of chicken and rice and he has not thrown any of that up I am still going to keep a very close eye on him but I think maybe he got something from the Kitchen floor? perhaps an onion but I am not sure
