Yellow Vomit and Diarrhea Hey all, My little guy isnt doing so well. I don't know what happened. Left for work this morning around 7:30 and he was fine. My sister was home around 2 pm and when she went to feed him, he didn't eat. She said he threw up around 3. At 4 I was home and when he was lying with me watching tv, he threw up again and it was neon yellow in colour and was not foamy at all. He just had a diarrhea attack in my house now as well. What's wrong with my little guy? He couldn't have eaten any foreign object or anything as he is essentially bound to his crate or to lying on my lap because he is still recovering from luxating patella surgery. He is 7+ days off his meds. I switched his food up last week from Royal Canin Mini Puppy to Fromm Grain-Free Surf & Turf Kibble which he really likes. He's completely fine, alert, responsive, etc. I'm a little worried, whats going on with my little buddy? |
Neon yellow is bile meaning he need to eat. If he's had diarrhea you should make sure he's well hydrated, especially if he's young. His stomach could be upset from switching food, did you gradually switch the food? You posted a while ago, I hope he's eaten since then. Good luck, I hope he's felling better in the morning |
First off I would not have switched his food being he just went throught a tough surgery as that is a tough surgery :( You should give the body time to heal completely until doing different things. What meds was your dog on while recovering was it metacam, rimadyl, deramaxx or was it tramadol for pain relief? Nsaids can have side effects which are metacam , rimadyl nd deramaxx It could also be the food what is the fat content on that food as yorkies need to be on a lower fat diet as they are prone to pancreatitis but if it was pancreatitis your dog would be restless, lethargic, and in pain. This breed is very sensitive stomach wise so when you throw too many variables into the equation you will have a hard time narrowing down with issue so in future try not to do a bunch of changes with them as if you would not have switched the food we would know for sure it was something with meds and surgery but now we have food switch in equation so have to rule that out as well. Most likely the food is too rich as that was the recent change let me know more and you need to compare fat content on old food vs this food as that will help |
thanks for your input silyjillie and dwerten. anywho, cujo woke up fine this morning and hes back to normal...he was good last night too after he had his potty incident. onto the food issue, there was a website linked to this message board somewhere that had reviews of dog food. if anyone has the link for it i can post up and do comparos of his food! |
