HELP!! What is this bald spot on top of her?? 2 Attachment(s) I noticed the other day that Sadie has a little bald spot right along her back like on her part. I know i didn't put it there, and she's never scratched herself or bit at herself that high up on her back before...could it be that the groomer i took her to for her first puppy cut not only cut her nails way tooo short but could have nicked her with some clippers and got some skin.... this spot looks exactly like what happens to a lady's leg when you use a razor on them and you miss and it likes all bare and white and bald for awhile... i'll try to take a picture: |
First if it were my dog I'd ask my Vet. if she would take a quick look without charging an office call, (maybe go in after hours) so she could give me an educated opinion and if it was a burn, I'd have my Vet. put it in writing and go to the groomer with the results and let them know I want compensation. You should start your own grooming. Too many horror stories on here about groomers. |
Thats strange, the light is reflecting on that spot so I can't tell but was there any cut or scab there? If she nicked her and got skin I'd assume there would be a scab after. How long ago was she groomed and did you notice right away after or few days later? I don't think it may of been the groomers because I would just think if it was there would be a scab or something. But then again I am not a professional so what do I know  |
I can't really tell from the pic, but is it a legitimate bald spot and not just her hair turning white/silver? |
That's really odd, isn't it? Is it red or flakey at all? I'd have your vet take a look at it. |
it's not red, no flakes, no scabs, no nothing, and doesn't seem to bother her one bit at all....but it's obviously not just her normal skin or her part, it's a white patch of skin with no hair...i don't think i remember that before the groomers and saw it a few days after....:S and we're going to the vets next Wed. to have them at least check her out... no ticks or parasites that the eye can see. she's itchy occasionaly from allergies (giving benedryl) and she's got very dry skin on her tummy, but this isn't dry or flakey like her tummy is...and i'm adding olive oil to this batch of raw food, someone mentioned it helps with dry skin as well as not bathing as much in winter....any other suggestion for the dry skin would be great. otherwise, i guess we'll see what the vet says... oh and the picture pretty much shows all there is to see, i just wanted you to notice the big white spot on her back that shouldn't be there, it should all be hair |

Thats really really strange. I can't give much more advice really. I know Lola rubbed all her chest hair off from her harness and now that we switched it has all started to grow in again. It is just weird because it looks like a small area only? Hmmm. I'd say its fine to wait til you go to the vets if its not bothering her. |
I don't think it's from a razer, because who would be using a razer there? Plus, no nick or redness. Not too long ago I was doing Matty's top knot and noticed a bald spot exactly like that! It was just soft white skin and no hair. I almost had a heart attack. I started putting some Vit E oil on it and the hair has grown back. I don't know why the hair came out and I don't know why the hair has grown back - but it has. |
We noticed when we rescued Camden she had a white circular spot on her side that you can when she is wet. The vet said it looks like it might have been from a worm infection or some other kind of infection that wasn't treated and that's how it healed. |
Do you use any flea meds like revolution? That looks close to where I apply Bonnie's revolution. |
My yorkie "Baby" had a bald spot when she was four that looked similar only round and about the size of a nickle. My vet told me "it just happens sometimes for no good reason just as people will sometimes get a small bald spot on their head and it will either stay that way, come back normal or come back gray". Baby's hair never came back but she lived to be 16 years old (still miss her terribly) and it never happened in any other spot... R.I.P. "Baby":rbyorkie: |
