Post spay lactation Bebe was spayed on Tuesday and seemed to be recovering well but since last night she hasnt been herself and her nipples are big and she is lactating. Is this normal? |
Funny you should bring this up right now...I've been coming on the site for quite some time, and haven't seen this issue addressed...However, Apple came into heat the middle of August and was spayed the end of October (just about the time she would have had pups, had she been bred)...Her nipples seemed to be a little swollen, after the spay, and the vet and I both thought it might be a false pregnancy...Anyway, it's been 9 days, since the spay, and the swelling has gone out of her nipples...I don't believe I saw any milk, but wasn't really looking for it...Btw, her spay went off beautifully, and she's totally herself now :D |
Hi ya, thank you for the reply. Bebe has had lots and lots of milk coming out. I'm going to put a warm damp flannel on her soon, hopefully that will help. |
Very Interesting, cause mine is that way too..... Went into heat in July got spayed on Oct. 21, and hers are swollen..... I am so thankful for this site. I was ready to call the vet...... |
My guess would be a false pregnancy? I would call the vet to let them know though. Keep in eye on her temp too to check for infection. |
False Pregnancy after being spayed July 16, 2010. Hello, I am new to this board and I've been reading quite a bit about False pregnancy after being spayed. My Nina was spayed July 16th and it went well, thank God. After her surgery her nipples got swollen and even had milk when the vet squeezed one of them. It's been 1 month and 1/2 and Nina is still swollen. She's been on Antibiotics for 10 days, Biomox. Her nipple area is very tender to the touch and she whimpers when she's carried. The vet says this is normal for False Pregnancy and the antibiotics should take care of the problem. Has anyone ever had this problem? What concerns me is the tenderness she's having. Thank you for any comments! Nina and Daisy's Mom! |
