Blisters/Bumps on Belly!!!! I posted this on the general health and diet forum last night. I got lots of different ideas about what it could be. Yitzee came out of kennel last night with bumps and blisters (about 7) on her belly. They were inflamed. I gave her some childrens benydryl and this am the inflammation was gone. However, the blisters had matured and were full of puss and pretty big for her. She shows NO symptoms of anything sick-wise. She is playful, ate all of her food (as always) and is very rambunctious. She acts as though her belly is not bothering her. Question: Is this an allergic reaction to fleas???? |
Has she been near Fire Ants ? That sounds terrible ...have you put an anti-biotic on those blisters to prevent infection ? I would check the vets office ...I've never had a flea problem with the girls so I don't know if Fleas would do that - but ants sure will...poor baby - I hope you figure out what's causing that. |
Ok, this I can relate to. My moms dog Aura was having similar problems, the sores would swell up and break open ozing a little. Otherwise she acted fine. WHen we took her to the vet they said it was that she wasnt cleaning herself well enough and the sores were burns from urine. (Now we clean our dogs a lot, I know that this sounds bad, but we do care for them all the time) Turns out her skin is extra sensitive, and any contact with the urine causes the problem. We have to wipe and wash her down after each potty, and then apply a lotion to protect the skin. Being that she was in a kennel, I would wonder if they caused it by not taking her out enough and letting the baby urinate on the area she slept, or maybe they just dont keep the areas clean at all. Or maybe she was sad, and didnt care for herself the way she would had you ben there. But what you describe sounds just like the sores Azura had. good luck with your furbaby and hope she is better soon. |
How old is your dog? Thor had some blistery, bubble thingies on his belly and the vet said it was puppy acne. She told me to clean it with astringent. |
Yitzee is 7 months old The urine thing sounds like it could be a possibility. So does allergies. I've never heard of puppy acne, but, I am new to all of this with her. So, we'll see what the vet says tomorrow. |
Penny has some similar bumps this summer. Our vet called them "pustules" and said they were related to her allergies. She had them on her belly, by her vulva, in her armpits, on her back, etc. They would break open (or maybe she helped them) and scab over. She went on antibiotic twice (b/c the first one didn't work) and we started her on Benadryl twice a day. Luckily, she has had no more problems with them. I couldn't tell you for sure if your baby has the same thing, but I hope she gets better soon! |

My male had those bumps last summer and the vet said it is called "pyoderma". It's from allergies. He was on antibiotics, but as soon as he would finish them, the bumps would come back. They didn't seem to bother him either. I finally changed his food and since July 2004, he has not had another bump. It must have been a food allergy. I didn't change his food due to allergies, it just worked when I did thank goodness!! |
the same thing happened with Bella. It started out with a few bumps/scabs which i though oh uno she just scratched an itch too hard or something....then they spread to her armpits and neck and head and i freaked out, plus she was scratching and licking far more than ive ever seen her do, she is soo clean she has a weekly bath....ive never had anything wrong with my babies before....so i took her to my vet and he said she had pyoderma. which is almost like acne they are just puss filled blisters. they could be caused by an allergy or a bacteria on the skin. but he put her on antibiotics and a medicated shampoo! wish me luck! i hope they dont come back |
My dog has the same thing last night my dog rolled over on her back and I saw this blister that looked deflated and was green in color ...I am taking her to the vet on wednesday ..but it did cross my mind that it might be a burn from urine,,,,I am going to start cleaning her after she urinates I hope its as simple as that,,:animal-pa |
I noticed a belly blister on Daisy:aimeeyork 2 days ago:eek: . The fluid drained over night but it really bothered me so I googled :eyeballpcit and of course YT popped up with answers:coolsmile. I don't know why I did not check here first. Daisy is a very small Yorkie and a little extra close to the ground. She is fine and I have been keeping an eye on the belly blister healing but I think I will start helping the healing along. Thanks to everyone for sharing:thumbs up. |
if you check my threads i have one that says "hazel has a rash" or something like that. it includes pictures. i took her to the vet and they said she had a staph infection. she was given a soap with disinfecting stuff in it. i was also told i could use peroxide. hopefully it goes away. |
Treatment Thank you so much. My instinct told me to get the peroxide and I did but I wondered if I did the right thing. Your thread validated. I also put neosporin on it. I probably should have stopped at the peroxide because I think she tried to lick the neo off. I will look for the soap. It will be good to keep on hand. Again, many thanks. :) |

Peroxide will eat away "good flesh" as well as infected. Our "horse vet" has always told us to use peroxide with the initial cleaning of a wound and then switch to Betadine. |
