His left hind leg is sliding out from him as he walks. He also has a hard time standing up using that leg. We bring him to the vet and after examination and an xray, his front leg exhibits the same symptom (partial, sporadic paralization). The vet thinks he may have a disc compressing his spinal cord!! I spend the entire time at the vet's office crying because it is so hard to see my little guy fall over when trying to walk. Time to see the neurologist. He is a little better today after I gave him prednisone that he was previously on.
I am so distraught.
Let me give you biscuit's history The past month. Early October, I came home to find his right rear leg limping (later I notice sever bruising on the inside of what i could only term his upper thigh). We went to the vet(no break showing on the xray) and they gave him some anti-inflammatory medicine....he seemed to get better. Then a week or so later, I left the house for an hour and when I came back he wasn't lifting his head up and was tense/swollen around the shoulder area...back to the vet and after several blood tests and an xray of the neck/spine area...we were sent home with prednisone and an antibiotic (in case of tick bite??). Okay, he again gets better, but the vet calls to say he is anemic and reproducing blood cells - so possibly losing or lost blood. Repeat bloodtest, results the same. Radiologist looks at xray and says there is some lessening of the space between one of the discs in his neck area.
So now, it is off to the doggie neurologist on Monday to find out what is going on with my pup. Please pray he is alright!! |
